SilkAir Boeing 737-300. Crashed into the Musi River in Palembang, Indonesia. That was in December 1997.Originally posted by LyonK:wasnt there a silkair that crashed in thai/indon? around 6 years ago?
Well, because i know pilots who pilot them and they tell me about their maintenance issues. Not to mention , when i first flew it... i dont know what happened , there were sounds from the back of the plane , n somemore , it flew into turbulence , i am not talking about frontal.. i am talking about turbulence hitting the back of the plane. Tail end. I thought the plane broke in half and the 3 female passengers beside me started crying and freaking out.... after that.. thats it. I be honest.. i freaked out.. and thought that was it. lol. Now THAT is shocks that shorten ur lifespan!Originally posted by Superbus:I respect your opinion. But your statement does not sound fair to the budget airlines in general.
It just happens that the aircraft that crashed belongs to a budget carrier. Remember SQ 006? It crashed during a typhoon, and belonged to one of the most reputable carriers in the world. But to say then that SIA isn't safe is unfair. Same goes to the budget carriers around the world. Budget carriers are relatively safe. But there are certain carriers that you may need to keep out.
Now, that's one hell of a "freaking" experience! Haha.Originally posted by BadzMaro:Well, because i know pilots who pilot them and they tell me about their maintenance issues. that has to be one of my MOST shocking moment man. Faced with ppl with parang chop u, still not THAT bad.. can run , fight back or whatever. That one was totally.. HELPLESS..Originally posted by Rock^Star:Now, that's one hell of a "freaking" experience! Haha.
Air Asia should be alright. Their CEO, Tony Fernandez is too shrewd of a boss to let any incidents happen. What's more they have upgraded a lot of their fleet from 737s to the new Airbus 320. Nice and comfy
Can't say the same for Adam Air and Garuda. Indonesians seem to always have a problem with safety. It's ingrained in their culture.
My sentiments, exactly.Originally posted by Meia Gisborn:What do maintenance issues have to do with an accident that was, by all accounts, caused by attempting to land an aircraft in severely inclement weather?
So exciting one huh, your life? Almost fell off a cliff LOL.Originally posted by BadzMaro:that has to be one of my MOST shocking moment man. Faced with ppl with parang chop u, still not THAT bad.. can run , fight back or whatever. That one was totally.. HELPLESS..

Ya..Garuda is bad... but AirAsia hopefully lo.. sometimes its up to the person in charge to be cost effective.. or later.. tooo cost effective that it may jeapordise human lives lo.
