if i am correct they normally select those with flying experience, especially those from the airforce. -

if im not wrong they also have junior pilots. pilot from rsaf if they wanted to ord and transfer to commerical line they still have to take up tests training like everyone else. they payscale varies on wat they of aircraft and mode(commerical, transport/cargo etc) they fly.

That's not really true. These RSAF pilots are still subject to interviews and if their attitude is found wanting, they will not be employed. SQ actually has a modest salary structure compared to major airlines like British Airways, Qantas, Cathay etc.
A fresh grad from the pilot course would become a 2nd officer - he earns about $4k-$6k monthly. (incl allowances)
When he gets promoted to 1st officer, pay would become $8k-$9k monthly (incl allowances)
Then when Captaincy beckons, he can expect $20k-$30k monthly (incl allowances) -

sounds silly...but my friend was recommended by her sister to be a cabin crew... sister also CC la... and she got made it without any interviews...
so..am wondering... if the Pilot also recommends someone to be a CC... his recommendations got weight or not?? lolx -
Should be quite good pay, since they are capable of holding SIA up for ransom, like they did the last time when LKY had no choice but to intervene. -

u have to go through a couple of interviews + medical check ups...
and have to quite a fair bit of studying during the 2 years training...
and you will be sent packing if ur not up to it...

Ur friend got in as cabin crew w/o interview....just based on recommendation? Sure a not?
As for pilot, it depends. If the person u know is just a 1st or 2nd officer, forget it. Even if captain, does this guy know the people in the selection committee? There are about 2000 pilots in SQ. Even if the applicant's father is some big shot in SIA, he still subject to the stringent tests at the end of the day. -

Myth: RSAF fighter pilot sure no problem.
Truth: SQ are wary of such fighter pilots cos they are generally thought to be self-assuring and over-confident.
RSAF Transport pilots have better chances. -

Give it a shot though.
SQ has about 90 planes and 7000 cabin crew. If the airbus had arrived and no delays for the ones arriving next year, SIA would continue their aggressive recruitment but for now.........think maybe not so active.
