Boeing 737-8EH, PR-GTD, latest casualty.

Gol Tranportes Aereos Boeing 737-8EH, PR-GTD is less than a month old and accumulated only 234 airframe hours when it collided with an Embrarer ERJ-135BJ-Legacy 600 (ExcelAire, N600XL) business jet on delivery, and crashed in the Amazon region of Matto Grosso, killing 149 passengers and 6 crew members.
The Legacy landed safely despite the damages that it would have incurred.
C/n and M/sn of PR-GTD was 34653/2039, first flight in September 2006, and delivery, according to sources, was September 11th, 2006, well, so coincidental.
This is the worst accident in Brazilian aviation history, and I was too shocked to find it was a -800 involved in the accident, not some old bird like -400 or even worse, -200/-300.
Personally I am awed by the beauty of the -800 in Changi, India's Jet Airways' VH-JGG. This is also the first accident involving a -800.
I only have a model of the -900, in Dreamliner colours. Hopefully this accident will teach us and the aviation community a new lesson. -

Sometimes I feel Singapore's aviation is dying, but my own passion keeps me alive. Understand many of the visitors here are working, but hmm, I hope something can be done. -
