  Do you think parents have the right to read the diary of their children?

  Hmmm.. In the first place why would they wana intrigue(sp?) into the privacy of their own kids? I mean like if they want to find out something about the kid which had been bothering them, they should just talk to him/her about it instead of so gui gui sui sui read the diary. Like that the child sure angry one wat no? Then will lead to more misunderstanding and trouble for the family ah.. So i think its wrong cos afterall the kids have their own privacy ma. Just my 2cents worth.

  No right as they do it SECRETLY.... but can't say they r wrong coz they do it out of concern and worry.

  Agree. But will u really open your heart to talk to them? Gurantee keep some to ourselves wan mah!

  Haha ya la but if they talk to you instead of reading ur diary better for the both of you( mother and child) ryt? Instead of go and read the child's diary abit bad no? Even though you the Mother also must respect ur kid ma.
  Yeah true also you wont say the whole thing or maybe you wont even say anything at all but i believe as a parent, he/she should be able to understand if the daughter or son wana keep it to him/herself lo.

  Blunt has a very good point here. Most of us won't really open our heart to talk to our parent.
  
  So no choice, the parent may have to resort to secretly reading thier children's diary.

  Actually hor, if the mother and child have been in a good relationship, she wouldnt need to read the child's diary to find out what's happening. The child would also be more open to the mother if they are close. No?

  NO NO SALAH SALAH. No matter how close they are, the child will surely keep those deadly ones.. or even some not so important things. Sometimes... juz don feel like telling parents.

  To me a diary is a collection of your thoughts on paper - it's private. As such nobody has the right to read it without permission. Unless it's a blog, in which case anything online is public access if the owner doesn't set restrictions.

  absolutely not, unless there is very compelling reasons, e.g. life-threatening cases.

  used to keep diary when i was young.. went back to read them and found myself so laughable.
  
  stil think of keeping diary, but
  1. no time to write
  2. lazy to write
  3. dangerous!
  
  i think if it were a foto-diary it would be nice, but i am never a fan of taking fotos of myself - much to my own regret.
