The night was cool and blue,
Painted by streaks of clouds, white and pale.
The air was icy and eerie,
with a tingling bite at my flesh.
My head was dizzy, my heart heavy,
eager in anticipation.
The radiance and brightness of her smile,
somehow didn't calm my spirit.
I had a burning question to ask,
Yet my courage seemed to fail me.
O Such moments drive me wild!
Fear, excitement, hope, joy, sadness -
All these feelings swirling in me.
I just couldn't control,
Emotions got the better of me and I slipped,
- I like to take you out for Valentines -
She flashed that smile again,
yet i felt it hid a bearer of grave news
- I like to be alone for that day -
I smiled, but behind that smile lurked,
disappointment, despair, rejection.
Alas! I was not to have her
- I understand! Good night -
My body turned, but my heart and soul longed to linger
I felt afraid, scared, rejected,
feelings I couldn't comprehend.
I walked bravely back into the night,
But my heart cracked that night. -
