Perhaps it's as a form of courtesy as well?Read it somewhere that this practice of surrending arms once out of your own base and into another organisation's "territory" or "jurisdiction" , you have to respect that and hence surrender your arms. This was written in a US based context, whereby the local Sherrifs upon entering a US military base would do so. Haiz...anyway,who knows,someday we might even see matas setting up roadbloacks with the SAF in their Bionix IFV or M113 APC setting up roadbloacks.And also,they may decide to position SADA on all tall buildings in Singapore and equip them with Rapier,Igla,Mistral or RBS 70 missile systems.
Side-track alittle,what are cops gonna do when war breaks out?join the SAF and repel the enemy or what? -

Hey,guys if you say that Police Officers who are in Military Camps have to surrendar their firearms and ammuntion,then who do they surrendar their firearms and ammuntion to?
And if you recall,the three clowns from M'sia who came over to P.Tekong and SAF and SPF activated large numbers of personnel to hunt them down and arrest them.I recall seeing that the SPF officers are armed with MP5s,revolvers etc...So how do you explain this?Just curious.Thanks.

If PO wanna bring their arms into the camp they'll prob need prior approval from the SAF unit's commanding officer, which was probably what happened in the Tekong incident. -

Well...seems to me that most matas join the force in order to do just that...be forceful. Too bad the SPF is actually the SPS liao lah. Service with a smile always, remember that! -
Haha....yeah I discovered they do handcuff themselves to the accused from another forum.
