yes, we are trained with m16 during the days in Police Academy.....Originally posted by cornyfish2000:Just wondering, do POs carry m16s in any department? Are they trained in it or is it just for wayang during NDP every year?
Perhaps it's as a form of courtesy as well?Read it somewhere that this practice of surrending arms once out of your own base and into another organisation's "territory" or "jurisdiction" , you have to respect that and hence surrender your arms. This was written in a US based context, whereby the local Sherrifs upon entering a US military base would do so. They are only allow to carry with them unless with proper authorisation and in "exception circumstances" which it was not stated what would be one.Originally posted by qazplm:its just for preventive measures....... mainly is safety reason.......![]()

I don't think those guard towers are manned anymore, now with all the cctv and high tech stuff rite? I've never seen anybody on them (at least not in the old changi prison fortress for the past year).Originally posted by SpecOps87:Wats a PR-21?

In SPF, if you are not trained for the certain arms, you are not allowed to even carry it.... let alone wayang..... i believe you think too much.....![]()

You are dreaming....SAF job is to repel the enemy.. not ours.. we work enough.. if we have to repel the enemy.. then saf should do some policing work too right....They sure can help me with my CSSP...Originally posted by SpecOps87:Haiz...anyway,who knows, someday we might even see matas setting up roadbloacks with the SAF in their Bionix IFV or M113 APC setting up roadbloacks. And also, they may decide to position SADA on all tall buildings in Singapore and equip them with Rapier,Igla,Mistral or RBS 70 missile systems.
Side-track alittle, what are cops gonna do when war breaks out?join the SAF and repel the enemy or what?

They surrender their weapons to the camp's regimental police (RP) for safekeeping, i suppose...Originally posted by SpecOps87:Hey,guys if you say that Police Officers who are in Military Camps have to surrendar their firearms and ammuntion, then who do they surrendar their firearms and ammuntion to?
And if you recall, the three clowns from M'sia who came over to P.Tekong and SAF and SPF activated large numbers of personnel to hunt them down and arrest them.I recall seeing that the SPF officers are armed with MP5s,revolvers etc...So how do you explain this?Just curious.Thanks.

Haha....yeah I discovered they do handcuff themselves to the accused from another forum. Quite amazed and amused myself, and I finally realised where all the stories of "handcuffing to myself" came from...esp when you consider most of the VSC males served NS in the army!Originally posted by houndy:Dont know.. the only SAF personnel we deal with are the MPS.. they dont carry any arms when they come down..even though they have a weird way of handcuffing their accuse.. they handcuff the handcuff to themself...![]()
