Malaysian to join the Singapore police force?

Hi, I'm a Malaysian (Singapore PR soon), and I'm having thoughts about joining the SPF. I'm 29 years old, male, not tall (163cm), have a Masters of Engineering degree from a Singapore university, and a Bachelor of Electrical Engineering (1st Class Honours) from Malaysia.
I wonder what are the implications (of being a non-Singaporean) on my possible career in SPF. Eventhough SPF do not specifically state any bias against non-Singapore citizens, I would guess that advancement opportunities are much better for Singaporeans.
Also, do anyone of you have any idea about how SPF actually view Malaysian recruits? I mean, do they actually welcome people like me to join the force? Or less welcome? Thanks in advance. -
There are no bias. But at 29, you start off abit late. This is something you have to weigh. If your interest is there, then by all means.

with your qualifications, u should look at jobs in the market mah, unless u really wanna a police career...

Sometimes (well, everytime) I read the newspaper and see news about people being abused/treated unfairly, I really hate it and it just spoils my mood
. My heart tells me that my interest might be with the police force, but my brain tells me to have a career in the private sector and try to earn as much money as possible for my family. Besides, I know that my parents and gf (future wife) will have trouble getting sleep if I become a policeman. It's a tough decision to make. 
And yeah, like koxinga said, 29 is a bit old to start a SPF career.
Hmm...might think of another alternative, the civilian sector of SPF, they have an engineering branch too. -
Apply to the Police Technology Department now if you want. They have a opening right now for one engineer. You can look back last saturday's recruit for the exact job reference.

with ur qualifications, u will start of as a Senior Officer...so practically u won't be on the grounds patrolling unless u are a Team Leader which will only happen after u got 1-2 yrs experience. of cos, if u are 'crazy' enough to chiong for STAR or CID, CNB, SSB those tougher roles, i bet ur close ones will worry, else its more or less alright one. pay wise....u won't starve and will be eating well but dun expect to be a millionaire very the soon though. whether it is a challenging career anot depends on ur mentality and posting also.
