Me also refrain myself from joining tour groups....never punctual...coz too busy shopping. Travelling by public transport overseas may sometimes lead you to unexpected places of interest not found in brochures. Me also prefer to eat with the locals especially roadside stalls as those are the real local cuisine, rather than eating chinese food or macas which can be found in SGOriginally posted by mistyblue:Sg ppl are too pampered .. go on trip, 1st thing they do is to compare to sg
next thing they do is to go shopping in the shopping complexes. Very boring to go on tour with sg people. sg people are a bit too kia si and kia su to go do such thing.
To do such a kind of trip, people in the group gotta be garang, easy going, and willing to help each other along the way. Its not easy to find someone who dares do this. I was lucky, my first trip to Europe was also backpack, although with Sg person (but we did have money troubles. I paid for hotels and etc because that ssg person want to keep all her cash for shopping - how selfish. Therefore I never go on another trip with her again.), back then we had lesser preconceptions. And the bulk on my trip was in muchen with my friend's uncle. He brought us everywhere sight-seeing.. and then I got a taste of the germany many tourists never know. Its one of the most beautiful countries... Anyways from then on, I am never much of a shopper. I shunt shopping in sg or overseas...

I think I am just lucky I had people from that locality to help navigate me and point out sights of interests that their locals go to rather than the tourist infested areas ...Originally posted by ToffeeClub1929:Me also refrain myself from joining tour groups....never punctual...coz too busy shopping.
