Are Kids now a days too sheltered

Even if you are siblings with the kid's parents, really to the kid, you have no other rights.
Mostly you buy stuff for them and they might be nice to you for a while.
Otherwise kids nowadays .. they are quite bratty. Thanks to the parents
My brother's daughter is going to go back to her mother come 4th may because he lost the custody fight. But to all the rest of the family, its sad to lose her, but most of us are reliefed and happy on the side. Cause she is like that kid you described. But we are from a lower income family, and yet because of the kid, we had to go buy things to make her happy. At 1 year old she already started to beat her own aunty for not talking to her but talking to the adults. At 1.5 yrs old, she stopped calling everyone, stopped thanking everyone for things they buy for her. She just take and thinks its entitled. But all in all, I blame her father for teacher her to be the brat that she is cause he himself is a brat, bully and jerk. I do not want to start on my brother but, he's the root of all this prpblems the whole family has and because of him, the family broke up.
So I am not surprised we have more issues in the future with the kind of people brining up that kind of kids. Of course there are good parents and good kids but I begin to feel its a rarity... -

Brought my nephew and 2 other relative's kids to Kelong, it s was hot weather there so I told them to get their drink if they needed and make a marking on the white board I will pay for it at the end of the day.
Guess how many cans the 3 kids and I think another about 5 adults drink in a day?
Total in a day 67 cans of soft drinks
Total 30 of us but the rest drink beer the whole day.
Beer total = 60 cans -

it is the fault of parents. seeing kids shout at their parents is a common sight.

Wah, so good i am 15 now but my parents never bought me game console no matter how well i do, never bothered to send me for sports/outdoor classes and i dont get new stuff that often.Too bad he does have enough gratidude, he does not know how lucky he is.
The only good thing i have got out of this is that i treasure my parent's money more and property.Every time my mother gives me excessive money i would insist she takes it back.
Btw i am not trying to gain empathy here, just trying to make a point that kids are indeed too EXCESSIVELY pampered nowadays. -
The problem i guess stems from the parents. My aunt is an example. She went thru a very hard childhood together with my mum and now she wants to give her child the best of everything, the life she always wanted but never had. Fortunately, my uncle n my dad have been stepping into the picture to keep my nephew from stepping out of line.
Sure he gets lots of stuff i didn't have when i was younger...heck even my brother gets more and better stuff than me. But now, come to realise it...getting what you want all the time may not be the best way to go thru life.
Also...i agree about the peer pressure part, but its really up to the person and how he reacts to it.
Take me for example...i was one of the latter ones to get a handphone in sec sch...n i was stuck with one of the lousier models. Naturally i wanted to get the better ones when they were released and went handphone crazy fo awhile. Fortunately my parents refused to buy me every hpone i wanted and now, i've given up chasing phones. Whats the point? Theres more to life than that.
I hope thats one thing that kids these days will learn. There's more to life than all those toys and gadgets. And parents really need to stand firm and set limits...else the butterfly effect steps in and we all know how it goes from there.
