Are Kids now a days too sheltered

My nephew 11 years old, 1 Play Station, 1 box, 2 laptops, 1 desktop computer, 1 Game Boy. 1 maid to take care of most of his things, Saturday tennis lesson, Sunday Golf lesson.
He nv run of of latest toys from TV, he do not know the value of his things. He only knows if it is spoil he will get a replacement. -
oops!! I forgot , most ppl here no kids yet

I'm only getting an iBook now..and that happens to be my first notebook.Honestly speaking..I was quite spoilt for my time..till my JC days..and my Dad told me point blank..you want to buy something on a whim, you have to go and earn that money yourself...so that's how it's been..and I'm happy he told me that. -

The story goes like these:
Introdction :
Last monday, my sister came to me and says she has vouchers for 2 O2 handphone, she intended to buy her son and me 1 each.
I came to realise her intention was she know I will do research of the phone and knowing how to operate the phone so that I can teach her son to use as high tech as I could. I had the feeling of being make use, its was not a gifts but a due to setup whatever for her son, I rejected the due.
All along she goes round to tell ppl how smart and understanding her son is, her son know to do his homework in the afternoon and schedule his own time doing his own thing , she need not to bother.
Story :
Last Saturday, My sister told me to buy her son a set of fishing rod and reel, budget $100. I did and went home to collect payment from her, she requested me to tell her son the fishing rod is bought by me and ask him to study hard, and she told me her son was complaint by Chinese Teacher and Mathematics teach that he has not been performing well in School. My sister wants me to lecture him for her.
The small little boy is so smart that he snatch the rod from me say Thank you and ran away, seem that he knows I am gonna talk to him.
Whole family went out and left me and the maid home that afternoon, since I can't do anything to help my sister, I try to find out some info from the maid, I request the maid to give me a time table for the coming week that what time the littel boy come home, what he do and what time he doing his home work.
To my supprise my maid told me "sorry sir, I can't becos he always take out his home out and wtach TV at the same time, he nv finish his home work everyday, when the parent check his bag everynight he hide all the unfinish excerise book in the kitchen"
When my sister came home , I told my sister what the maid told me. What supprise me was my sister break down, and start blaming the maid that why she nv tell her strating from this thing happens, what she tell me and not her instead of angry with her kid she choose not to believe his kid will bluff her.
sigh, I get the blame by the maid becos while she tells me the story she already predicted that my sister will be mad with her, she requested me not to tell my sister.
I am not a good story teller, above is just what happen to me and I just need a place to vent my anger. -

I really bay tarhan him, his parents do not allows ppl or themselve to cane their son the kid knows what he will get in the worst , so he very KL can even ignor you as and when he wanted, don't even know what is respect.
In front of parents he is like angle, behind parents he is a big devil

Look Beyond us, we can perceive alot of social problems of the teenages have begining to evlove today when the tecnologies became more modern & culture emerging to the western.
Kids are too sheltered is far from generalising the poplulation. Looking around are many kids who come from lower & middle income families, parents might not hav the abilty to provide any laptops, play station or any forms of entertainment technology.
When kids grow up to be teenagers & have their own group of friends to hang around with, where their mind have filled with jealousy & peer pressure. Why can he always have the most "in" toys & stuff & showing off his branded clothes, why not me? That issue had certainty be with me during my teenager day.
These social problems such stealing, shoplifting & even prostituting may have beomce a desire, an ego among some of teens who cant hide their desire to own the same things as other when their parents can only provide them the simpliest form of childhood & growing up stage. -
some parents dun like other people to cane their children one. but my uncle very understanding, he know his son very lazy and jialat, so he say if he naughty then cane. got dictation never declare also, very clever hor ? end up also ganna cane when found out.
