Sigh
I used to do well for primary School and PSLE, even got an A for Chinese which is easily my lousy subject. Did anyone care or know?
When i reach secondary, I used to have a maths teacher who think he is teaching university students. Many of us are struggling to understand, or to grasp the concepts. In the end, many of us gave up, while the cleverer ones manage to do well in the Maths exams. So in upper secondary, we were given "lousier subjects" to study because we "couldnt do Maths". Sheesh. Thats when I begin to frown upon the SG elitist education system. But I still do well for O levels, on my own. Who in my family cares? My dad always harp on my past failures, which I considered irrelevant and unreasonable. Bo pian, I LPPL keep quiet.
So it was a struggle in JC, and which this time round I did badly for A Level. Sigh, many would say try to understand our parents. But many of us are keeping quiet. Its not we dont understand or trying to rebel or something, many of us I realised are mature already, and keeping quiet is one mature way to avoid confrontation and silly argument. Sometime, silence is seen as sign of weakness or acceptance of our parents "reasoning'. I pity our generation of youngsters, because of the present environment
Singapore has already developed into a super elitist education system and more 'mechanical' society. Those of us who are struggling are literally drowning, and still have to conform to olden ways of thinking.
Kiasuism... my fren.... kiasuism is incoporated into da SG system...
