week 1 in melbourne

day 1 we flew to mel on this terrible flight QF10.
i mean though i didnt get motion sickness , i was close to it.
the food sucked...
then we dumped our bags at the hostel then we made our way to the uni where we had this welcoming thing.
freaking cold for us...and the best part is that my windbreaker is i the luggage.
then when we were given this viet roll...didnt take it at all.
then this pro DSLR user came to take grp photos for us.
later...
aiyah forgot most of the things liaoz. went ard the uni ....see see look look.
1 thing though, the skies are damn blue....
couldnt sleep at night... slept at 1am plus
day2,3,4
met at 1 of the LT to have this gathering the professor that taught subjects or rather is researching on things that are related to my course took us this lab and looked ard,
and we explored the uni looking at this building that building..
we were also given this set of questions like asking "how many trees are there in front of a certain block, etc."
then by chance, we found this lab where students where looking at bones of dinosaurs are some preserved specimens of some animals.
yuck!
in 1 of the mornings, we had this lab practical looking under all kinds of microscopes. the prof told us it was what the year3 degree students would do.hmm...but we didnt have to do the ultra cheem questions and reports that accompanied each section.
after our lessons ended 1 day we walked to chinatown and i had an eyeful of what i loved.....
CARS!!!!!!!
prior to entering chinatown....
saw a black nissan 350z,
then i saw audi TT,porsche boxster,honda civics,honda s2000.
a number of pajeros,toyota prados.
the honda civic i saw was a tiger in sheep's skin.
it looked so innocent, so..normal. but once u heard the engine u would be surprised.. VROOM VROOM....
the s2000 was also a stunner...with nice bodykits making it look damn fierce.
the pajero and pradas i saw...looked damn solid. 1 of them had a 4000cc V6 engine.
the prof who took us ard for the past few days offered to take us to lunch at lygon street.
Friday
since today was a 'library day' meaning to say we were supposed to spend our day in the lib but......who cares ?
so we only made our way to sch at 1130 am. meeting him for lunch at 1230.
he took us to this restaurant named "cafe italia" honestly....thank god he was paying..because most of the food was damn expensive.
i got this spaghetti that costs 14.90. when the food came, it was so small in servings that i had to eat slowly to avoid eating faster before the rest.
then for desert , wanted to share with some ppl a desert called chocolate fantasy because i expected it to be very big serving and yes i was right.
it had so much chocolate that if eating chocolate is a sin, i would be in hell now...permanently.
anyway after lunch we went back to the lib to do our research.
as of now, i am still abit confused over which topic to do.
sian...roughly decided on 1 topic and borrowed some books on it.
then went home had dinner..filled my shitty log book.
now rushed out of the apartment with some biotech friends to a 24hr IT lab in sch...to research. i dun understand why they so rush rush...but...aiyah...might as well...rather than stay home do nothing.
but here...scarce of almost everything.
paper to print, net facilities, max amt of d/l space.
arrrgggghhh.
food here so damn ex
saturday.
woke up rather late then in the noon after lunch in the apartment went to the zoo.
total waste of money, train tix 5.20, zoo tix 13.00
the zoo is so boring, so few things to see or do.
Sg zoo is the best loh.
then rushed back to go crowns casino. walked along swanston street and yarra river and look loads of pics.
but sadly i spoiled my friend's pic with his gf because of my serious handshake.had dinner there. damn expensive. wanted to go inside the casino but nvr bring IC cant go.passport kept in the uni safe to keep.
then managed to watch a fire display there 2 times but my cam's bat died on me while I WAS TAKING PICS OF THE FIRE DISPLAY.all because my cam was still on even though i turned to OFF button but the cam was still on. .tmd waste batt. frm 3/3 to 1/3 left/ &^*!%^(*%*%!*(%$(*^
somemore nightshot requires so much batt....
after that some went to have some ice-cream but most of us went back.
sunday.
supposed to go to victoria market to do some shopping but everyone sian sian....so got a friend to go with me to sch's IT lab to surf net and to use finish the net quota for the week. -
it always sucks.. that's why i just drink myself to sleep and wake up at my destination.. tried the souvlaki yet?

melbourne's weather is freaky as heck... in the middle of winter, there could be 22 degree days..
in the middle of summer, it can drop to 5 degrees...
but summer is insane.. some days are 42 in the shade

actually i saw another tourist doing it so i copied him.
there was this stone seat for ppl and there was this hole in the moddle.
sort of like a ring. so what happen was that i stood in the middle and aimed my cam up. of course dont do it all the time...later neck strain....ahhaha

Daimaru bought the place and wanted to demolish the thing but they found out it was a national monument, so they built around it
10 years ago, the pub in there sold the most delicious baked cream cheese covered oysters not sure if still there...
maybe, one day i'll live there, and all are invited to visit if i make it there -
