sometimes as an individual they will think like us..as in logically.. but then because they seems to be representing the co. and they subject to transparency and answer to the public... so they tend to have more regulation and stuff......

and the reason i say that is because the ones I came across don't even have basic common sense!
Scenario 1:
Received 3 calls from a certain stat board .. all different numbers but couldn't answer cos doing something at work. Figured it must be urgent so called back and all 3 numbers were hunting lines that divert your call to an answering machine that was for the general line and nobody else would know who you're leaving a message for and for what reason. In the end, whoever calls you back will have to trace high and low in her dept or entire stat board to find out who called you. And in the first place, when I couldn't answer the call, it was diverted to my answering machine. Whichever moron that was din have the common sense to leave a name, phone number and purpose for the call so that I can get back to them more effectively. Waste my time.... no brains or wat?
Scenario 2:
HDB sends you a form for update of occupier's information. After filling up the 3rd form in 6 months and sending back to them, the final document reflecting your info during your apptm is still WRONG!!! waste time and resources again.... apparently their brains didn't register what updates are for!
Scenario 3:
Bill instructs you to log in to website to obtain GIRO form. Upon logging in, there is no GIRO form to be found on the website and you are instructed to obtain it from their service counters!! DUh!! if i got time to go service counter, would I have bothered with online forms??
Scenario 4:
Some moron called my home during office hours (yah like i dun need to work... ) and left a message for me to call back... only thing is the moron forgot to leave his name and phone number. Am I some all-knowing deity?? Use their common sense lah!!
Scenario 5:
Person called up and introduced himself and organisation and went on and on about an upcoming seminar, the objectives of the seminar, where it is taking place, date, who are the speakers etc. Until I had to tell the person "Stop! What is the purpose of your call after telling me all these? Are you asking me to participate or sponsor or what?" I was *piaking* my forehead so hard that this guy went on and on without telling me why he called.
a lot of the scenarios are cases of left hand not talking to right hand within the stat board. The part that really rubs me the wrong way is that these employees don't know and don't bother to find out! and whole day long they just perform a one-step process at work not questioning what goes beyond, and not even bothering to use their common sense. now you see why I hate dealing with them?? -
oh well... i'm contemplating raising a stink at work too...
a case where every agency has their own SOP, trying to force theirs on everyone else...
and we're caught in the crossfire...
my boss got stuck at work until 5am a couple of days ago while other agencies could not make up their minds (and they are actually from the same lot of idiots...
someone has to play loose cannon again -
I suppose sometimes at the end of the day, we can unwind by laughing at these things.. sometimes i think we get too caught up with what we are doing and then forget certain things like making it easier for another person. I believe such things are not solely found in stat boards.. and sometimes u question about the reason for hiring top brains inside and then find such things at the end of the day.

ok lah.. several of ur examples reflect poorly on them - not leaving personal particulars while leaving a voicemail is erm.. not so smart. but this does not mean most or all of the civil servants r like them mah.
do u intend to or haf u already sent them some feedback regarding ur encounters? -
actually i don't really deal with stat boards in my work... all these were for personal stuff like shifting house, getting power in the house etc....so the entire context is that I'm their customer and this is the type and quality of customer service I get. And the sadder thing is that I feedback to them numerous times but people just don't change and don't bother to do anything abt it. In fact, the HDB update thing was still very manual... it's not an option avail online and they sent me the same form so many times I called up the dept head and gave him a piece of my mind.
