IMO it's not the feelings that are missing, it's the real, concrete criterias that your partner doesn't fulfill, that creates problems.Originally posted by wa|th3r:people who settle for partners refers to people who have no such criteria for mate selection but rather on elements/factors like chemistry, emotions, sexual instincts, etc.
People who rely on chemistry/instincts fares no better. Such people may date people one after another goes in and out of relationship but are not quite able to secure that kind of desired feelings they are looking for, then dropout of the relationship.
I sense flames comin'th. i sense disagreement. Please read, these are extracted from a textbook, research findings by sociologists. While to me the word "settled" may be "aimless" , it doesn't imply giving up, that's your assumption. Besides, i simply means the way ppl search the "other half". When i first read this article, i had much disagreements, but when i read the entire article, i saw the whole picture.Originally posted by choco B:Interesting posts on mate selection.
This is more my dominant style. While the core chemistry must be there, I expect partners to adjust and work at a relationship. But why is it labelled "settled"? Settled implies that you have no choice but to accept things?
Sometimes I worry that it's an "aimless" way of viewing relationships.

The posts regarding mate selection is actually painting a picture of this aspect human life. But of course, even sociologists amongst themselves can have disagreements with their respective findings; so why don't you present you views for us all to see?
