That's around 171cm. I'm not sure if my height is considered tall but my guess is that i'm of an average height for a guy. never really bother with other ppl's height. but i'm quite tanned/dark lah, having cycle quite a bit though i prefer nitecycling though. for me, i rather believe there is no so-called "the one" but there are a number of people who could end up being the one you spend the rest of your life with... how?? learning to love a person for all he / she is and in all circumstances... and that includes all the good ones and the BAD ones.....

seeing jOhO's posts, i'm reminded of what i've read somewhere in a book, a sociology book on mate selection. it is theorized that people do not actually choose their partner but rather settle for one.
difference is people who actually choose their partner have certain prerequisites for mate selection like wealth, looks, social class, ethnicity etc. they pay little attention to those who are not within the criteria, and bias towards those who do. people who settle for partners refers to people who have no such criteria for mate selection but rather on elements/factors like chemistry, emotions, sexual instincts, etc.
not that this post is worth much relevance to this thread, but simply sharing this rather interesting read. actually there's much more but i'll stop here. -

anyway back to "the one" theory.. well u're not wrong, i really don't believe that there is only literally ONE that could be our life partner. i mean wat happens if fate (or watever u call it) decreed that my partner can only be found in afghanistan. then how? i'm screwed liow lor... mauahhahaha
i think the best attitude to have, and the one that i'm adopting now, is that i've lived most of my 27+ years alone and i am very proud of myself, am confident, am thankful and happy for my experiences so far, and fully looking forward to the future. I don't see why i can't continue this way (single) if i have to. if i eventually find true love, then good, another person can share with me this life that i so love, and i'm sure she'll be happee to have me share hers as well. -

it's interesting wat u've posted tho, for i found myself scowling at the beginning when u were describing pple who are biased towards their selection criteria, and then feeling much better after u contrasted them to those who rely on chemistry, emotions...
of course everyone is entitled to their own opinion, especially on this topic, it's their partner they're choosing, why should i bother how they do it? but like with most things in life, extremes usually aren't good. love with all ur heart is good, but the head is there for a reason too. but for me, the heart comes first. by how much? i haven't had a real need to "test" that distance yet, if u know wat i mean. -

Those who actually have criteria for mate selection are obviously limiting their own selection. They usually look for person to person, always finding their partner-to-be falling short of their expectations, so they continue "hopping" around. Some people in end might just give up and enter the latter category, and rates people based on chemistry and instincts.
People who rely on chemistry/instincts fares no better. Such people may date people one after another goes in and out of relationship but are not quite able to secure that kind of desired feelings they are looking for, then dropout of the relationship. What that can be most bugging to this, that these people may even be subconsciously not wanting to settle down! So this means that they actually don't want to be in a relationship but may be upset and confused by their desire to be attached. This is getting more common in modern societies.
These are actually 2 major generalizations of mate selection and people oftentimes do not just fall into one category, but somewhere in the middle. That is people are usually either more criteria-based, or instinct-based.
Speaking of the search of a needle in haystack...my question is...at the end of the day, is it really worth it? I don't have the answer, and i know i'm not searching. -

If those are ur analyses then i'd say good for u! i don't think i could disagree on anything there.
only thing is that the above doesn't paint a very pretty picture for us. imagine, we not only need to get ourselves in the "right" frame of mind, we need to find ANOTHER person that is like-minded, and in some instances, that so happens to fall within certain criteria! maybe looking for that needle isn't so hard after all, comparatively!!
in my opinion i've felt true love. it is the ability to be so extremely comfortable with another human being, when things u do/decide for the BOTH of you is a surprise even to you, when u feel that a personal joy is doubled becos she feels it too, but worries are halved becos she carries the burden with u. i guess i could go on, but there's no need. i'll know when it happens to me again.
so yes, i think it's worth it. u've gotta have felt it b4. u just have to. -
