  gore tex is good for rainy weather where its cold and windy.
  
  not very suitable for SG's humid weather IMHO.
  
  i got a pair of gore tex boots thats made in 2005 and boy are they comfy after being seasoned.
  
  still wearing em now.
  
  full leather... not worth it , hard as hell to season.

  yar balls.. i gave up on seasoning my leather boots.
  
  i just wear the chiongsua one even to parades, and its still quite shiny afterall.
  
  and most comfy too, the other one is almost as good as new.

  Dunno leh. I wear my leather boots 2 days already season.

  The important thing about leather boots is to dry them properly after going outfield. If you forget to stuff them with newspapers/change newspapers regularly, the leather will harden when it dries and moss may grow on the leather. I remember my buddy got cut at his ankles by wearing leather boots when we went on road march after outfield.

  I always think that different boots serve different functions. For professional soldiers, they usually have more than 1 type.

  Admin / guard duties / parade - Army issued Goretex.
  Jungle training / waterborne training - Altama jungle boots
  Overseas training / operations - ??
  Route Marches - ??
  Urban - ??
  Parajumping - ??

  The goretex boots are a godsend for admin work, and lots of walking around outstation.
