  Hong Kong - A sleepwalker who stabbed the owner of a hotel in China where he was staying was freed after paying his victim compensation, a news report said on Tuesday.
  
  The sleepwalker stabbed the hotel owner while he lay on a sofa in the hotel lounge, then stabbed him again in the chest when his victim followed him back to his room, the Hong Kong edition of the China Daily reported.
  
  Police in Hangzhou, Zhejiang province, were later told by the sleepwalker he could remember nothing about the incident. Experts confirmed the man, with a history of sleepwalking, was unconscious when he carried out the attack.
  
  He was freed from custody after paying the hotel owner 15 000 yuan (about R14 000) in compensation, the newspaper said. - Sapa-DPA
