My D: is gone!!!!

It died on my yesterday while i was playing Championship Manager 03/04...
I tried to save the game but it couldn't be saved!!!
When i opened my D: folder, they kept prompting me "D: not formatted, do you want to format?"
I clicked "no"...
I just left the game, and ran a virus scan... no virus.
Shut down the PC and this morning... D: is gone...
There goes my MP3s, Stand up comedy videos and pictures!!!! My programs like Photoshop, Kazaa Lite, Nero CD etc. are all there!! AAAAAAAAAAAAAAARG!!!
Its been a while since I've sourced for a new PC... now to start doing research and budget planning...
In any case, is there anyone who knows how to find my D

i've had that drive for... hmmmmmmmmmm 4-5 years... -
The most common possibility:
Death of IDE Cable/Loose IDE Cable.
Mobo failure. -

my drive was into its 5th year before it coughed and died
it happened out of the blue and w/o a warning......
during boot-up, it totally cannot read the drive......
it damaged my mumboard somemore....and indirectly spoil my other HDD..... -
The hard disk platter does not die easily unless under impact, shock, power surge.

FAT error is common even for ntsc32. -

It will screw your HDD more.
It is very likely that you've a faulty ide cable. -

IDE100, IDE133.. it depends on how many pins... bring your cable over for them
It's standard as long as you fixed the jumpers correctly for your hdd.
Harddisk drives do not die as easily as ABC unless the read/write head is badly aligned. -

been thinking of getting one, but the one i have now WAS running fine... that's why I didn't think of getting a new one.
Now... well, one drive is still working... except i can't play games anymore... NO SPACE...
at least it gives me time to save up and get a fast PC... what's more is that nothing new is really coming up nowadays, so it won't get obsolete so fast!
Now... any volunteers to help me think what parts i should get to assemble a new PC? -

DVD-RW (only for duplication and future use [reminder: use dvd player to watch dvds or risk damaging dvds.])
