I looked like a nightclub hostess just now!
Went to do my hair, but the hairstylist gave me curls instead of the tousled hair that I wanted. She said it'd flatten in an hour's time, but it never did.
Didn't get to know any new guys either.
But half the extended family went for a karaoke session after the banquet which ended at 2 a.m. It was fun!

I'm amazed.
I woke up automatically at 9.34 a.m. despite going to bed at 5 a.m. this morning.
Had a terrific morning, pigging out on bread with loads of margarine, waffles, blackcurrant tea, sugared biscuits, milk tea... and I'm having a cup of hot chocolate now after eating yummy plain porridge I cooked myself! -

i was typing halfway and i decided I might as well post it here so everyone gets to know
here goes:
Ayeee.
My hair was a mess. I went to the hairstylist and pointed to a girl in a magazine there and I told her I wanted something like that - a little tousled and not so curly. In the end she gave me something that looked so different, and she told me the curls would flatten in an hour's time but they didn't.
I guess I didn't look that bad... but those curls made me look older (which I didn't want) and I felt like I was some Geylang hostess.
And to think the hairstylist has been doing my hair for so many years. But then I was in a huge rush... perhaps I didn't explain properly and didn't have enough time for her to spend on my hair too.
But at least it wasn't as bad as when I was in Sec 4 - my hairstylist wasn't in so another one cut my hair before prom. In the end it turned out so ugly I went home crying and shut myself at home for 2 weeks and skipped prom. I was fuming mad I swore I'll never ever let her touch a single strand of my hair again.
I bought a black dress from Daniel Yam, crossback and the dress ends at the middle of my calves. Plus a pair of black strappy sandals which was bought so last minute, I grabbed them off the shelf, asked for my size, tried it on and it looked ALRIGHT only and I purchased it.
Actually I won't buy from Daniel Yam the next time. The variety of designs there are rather boring and limited. I'll make sure I prepare at least a month before the next time.
My aunts were waaaaah all so glamorous. They agreed on a dress code - long dress and shawl. Compared to the rest of the guests, I guess they were the better-dressed ones. I noticed most of the other guests dressed at the most something like how I did.
The venue was most disappointing. Mandarin Court is a ballroom right? The bride my cousin said so. :X But the ceiling looked old-fashioned and the stage had curtains that looked like the color had faded and the props didn't go with the curtain's color.
The service was bad too. Contemplating writing in to complain.
The emcee was well, basically most of his speech told us his story of how he got to know the groom and how they eventually became the best of friends and how his life would be different had they not become friends yadda yadda yadda... *yawn* I thought he should have done a bit more self-grooming since he was the emcee. His hair looked much worse than Douglas O's and his face was yelling out "I NEED A CRATE OF BLOTTERS!!!!!"
Lighting was CHEAP! The hotel had corny light-flashing before the first dish was served, it was like some disco from the '50s especially because they played an oldie too.
I "over-expected". -
Well, well, as my friend told me once: We go for the wedding to give our blessings, so it is alrite if the place isn't nice, food isn't good, etc.
So anyone considering to host a wedding dinner at a coffeeshop etc? -

Hair & makeup is always a risk especially if there isn't a trial session. But very surprised that your stylist, who's your regular, still did something wrong even with a picture. I mean, what more can you help him with ??
Yah... Daniel Yam dresses quite generic hahaha. But convenient & reasonably priced lah. Count yourself lucky you can wear the standard, off the rack sizes. (T__T)
Mandarin Court is one of two ballrooms there. Mandarin is an ooold hotel... my friend tells me the food is good. I never been there for banquet myself.
Uhh... every first course I've witnessed has accompanying light shows LOL Hmm what's worse, Kitaro or oldie ?
I hate the generic flow of a standard wedding dinner. Boring narcissistic slideshow that overruns. Corney, tries-too-hard-to-be-funny recount by best man about friendship and relationship. The groom making a Public Display of Love by showing off his musical prowess. Uugh!
