What's wrong with this forum?

  I remember this forum used to be one of the top 30 forums (at least) in sgforums. How come it is dropping at such a frightening rate? Most forums that I've been, their music forums are usually very active. Why are people still posting music topics in other forums and not here?
  
  What can we do to boost up the rating? Any good suggestions?

  Look people, I am not trying to create a storm here. I see this as a wake up call for the moderators. IÂ’ve been around long enough to know that this forum got potential to reach top 10 at least. Mooku is a very nice person, it will be a great pity if one fine day we login to sgforums and discover that this forum is out of top 50. This will be a sad day for all music lovers.

  i think the mods would prefer something more inline with the purpose of this forum to help boost its ratings/visiblity; not a so called 'wake-up' call.
  
  the rise and fall of the forum is based very much on the participation of the forumites. if u really want to see this forum get onto the top, why not start a music related topic instead?
  
  btw, you said u been around long enough, but according to your join date that does not seem so. are u clone nick or registered just to post this topic?

  So must post more lor.
  
  But I do agree that awareness is very important in sgforums. If you are not in top 20, most people didn't even know your forum exist in the first place.

  Very grateful to Urban Monkey for his/her concern towards this forum. It really shows that there are people out there who take this forum seriously, and that they actually want to see it do better - it's a form of encouragement!
  
  I must admit that I ceased putting in sufficient effort to keep this forum alive. It's terribly embarrassing! I have other commitments taking up my time. I haven't been frequently online enough, and when I'm online, most of what's in my mind, frankly speaking, is to keep up with what's happening to other forumites!
  
  At the same time... I really don't know how to attract more activity in. I haven't any idea how to get people to be more responsive... and I stopped emphasizing much on the ratings anymore. I started this forum plainly in the hope that I could gather music enthusiasts here for useful and constructive discussions, and didn't quite have hopes for it to be in the Top 20 Forums list. Initially I tried to boost activity by posting some booster threads, and then somehow in the middle of it all, it just died down.
  
  Well umm, ratings aren't a big issue here, BUT it really does reflect on my feeble efforts to liven up this place, though. Heh.
  
  And then also... I'm not as actively involved in the music scene anymore, except for kids' music! So in a way I'm not updated enough to know what I can put in here. (hint: good help needed!)
  
  I don't know... but it's quite difficult to get people here actively seriously discussing music, because if people really wanted to talk about music, there are so many other forums on the World Wide Web that truly, and solely, specialize in music.
  
  Excuses aside... Does anyone have any suggestions? Maybe Urban Monkey would like to share with MooKu, what the music forums you have seen do, because I really haven't seen enough yet! I'm sure your precious advice would be extremely helpful!
  
  SnowFlag had suggested a change of name some time back, because for a moment I'd intended to change this forum as a... uhhh, ARTS forum. But it never materialized.
  
  Last, but not least, many thanks to Urban Monkey. "mooku is a very nice person..." hee you flatter me!

  I want songs for children aged 3 to 9 (primary 3). If the instrument can be for guitar, will be better.

  I don't see much wrong with this forum.
  
  I frequent alot of music forums, they're not bustling with activity, just alright only. I think that's because in those forums, people mainly discuss things like techniques of playing and cocnerts, things that are very musical... and issues that most of the time only the insiders know, like, gossip about the SYF. You can't expect much from this Sound of Music. Sgforums is not a place people know specialise in music. And the people here are not very participative in the general music threads either.
