DJ-ing

just wondering, how do u define a good DJ??
that day i was telling my fren that the new DJ is quite good cos I like the songs she played...
but then my fren said that the critieria of a good DJ is to be able to change songs seamlessly... without ppl realising it (more for those techno songs, i guess)
so, was wondering what u all think?? -
got 2 types mah......radio DJ and pub DJ lah.......
radio DJ play nice songs, talk with listeners.....
pub DJ mixes songs.....no need to tok....
mixing includes able to transit songs smoothly....which is wat u mentioned about changing song seamlessly (usually trance...)....and oso overlap songs.....add in effects......blah blah blah.... -
oh... i must have use the radio DJ's critieria to grade a pub's DJ...
but thot the dance tracks she played is good thou.... -
to me a good club DJ is one who knows how to pick the songs for the correct occasion...
and the usual stuff like transition and adding bits and pieces to make it sound nice -

how well would u all rate our very own inhouse DJs? -

I think we should have a collaboration with the DJs, have a sticky in this forum for dedications... then they'll be WONDERFUL!
Kidding about the "BAD" part, but that collaboration thingy has been in my head for a long time already...
I think a good radio deejay would be one who's good at talking, rather than the music. I remember I used to dreaaaaad Chris Ho on Perfect 10 cos he spoke monotonously and it was oh-so-boring! -

a radio DJ need to be able to select the right songs for that time... promote songs, also need to select the right songs coz some stations got theme one mah...
pub DJ main job is to get the pple dancing and transition between songs must be smooth...
