Piano care & maintenance

Harlow... I just got myself a piano a couple of days ago.
It was supposed to come with a heater, but the supplier happened to be overseas when the piano was delivered, and he'll only return end December.
I was told that a heater is required to keep the piano away from excess humidity so as to prolong its lifespan and maintain stability of the pitch...
The weather has been kinda wet of late.. Should I put in those small dehumidifiers for the time being first?

Yes, you probably would need a dehumidifier for such weather in Singapore unless your piano is in an air-conditioned room with little moisture. But I have a cousin who has a piano without dehumidifier and nothing really happened to it pitch wise even after all these years...

Oh yah, cos my piano is a second hand one.. I didn't realize this when I went to pick my piano, but when I step on the sustain pedal, there's a squeaky sound. Can that be solved by oiling the parts or something? -

Ha ha, the pedals are very prone to squeaking. And yes, you can oil them but the contacts are actually internal and i'm not sure how this process is done. Maybe someone else can help here?

Mwahaha. I'm sure with a little more reading I can start tuning my own piano and repairing it.
The piano guy came down today to oil the parts cos the sustain pedal was creaky. He took apart the whole piano and took out the insides waahhh..
