What's the reason...?

  Any reason why you picked up that instrument that you are playing now?
  
  Friends were playing so you wanted to learn? Friends in band so you joined the band?
  
  Interest? Learn to impress a girl / guy?

  I remember i was 17, I decided to learn how to play the guitar because i saw my friends learning, and i decided to just try learning how to play it too...
  
  at that same time, i was trying to get over someone... so the guitar was perfect for me to take my mind of everything...
  
  I ended up spending my holidays practising daily... played till my skin peeled... played till my fingers hurt.
  
  then one day one of my friends came to my place, took my folk guitar and played classical on it... he told me, classical music sounds better on classical guitar. I was a beginner then and folk guitar still sounds better to me.
  
  In the end i was interested in classical music on the guitar, and i played till it neared BMT where i stopped since then.

  seriously, what happened tat time is tat I was forced to join band. Teacher-in-charge goes class by class n point out students. Primary school mah.... blur blur n gong gong. BUT since then, it begin my interest.
  
  Secondary school still join and because of interest.
  Y I din continue after that? Music made mi very emotional.....

  i thought school band always played happy music... how did it affect you?

  I always wanted to join band since pri sch. But due to some reason, my mom forbids me to do so.
  I secretly joined band in sec sch and told my mom only after i joined. She diam diam never say anything.
  We didn't really have a chance to choose the instruments we like to play, they just say i look suitable to play flute. And there i go....flute.
  
  And they have this stupid policy that we are not allowed to touch/learn other instruments, therefore, i never have the chance to learn others.

  flute is a nice instrument. At least it is not as heavy as a trombone.
  
  same policy wif u. BUT once we r ex-band members, i begin playing other instruments n boy.... I miss those days when being ex band member, we have the authority to ask my junior to clean his/her instruments parts again n again during our half-annual cleaning of instrument event

  yes, i agree. Things were definitely different once u're a senior band member. I used to be assistant section leader, but i sucks at teaching the juniors. haha... most of time, leave them to die themselves.

  I was the section leader, but my section listen to my assistant section leader more than mi. Perhaps I look more a devil than an angel. But to be strict to them is for their own good mah.

  i happened to take trombone.. so heavy.. ours is audition.. everybody tried all the instruments first, see which instrument u can play then take dat instrument lo..

  urs is alto or bass trombone. Bass trombone is heavier but I like its additional key to play 7th position

  mi join symphonic band in sec sch....juz to revive back my music side....but then i realise my music side kinda sux ..3 yrs past n most of my music talent seem over

  try buzzing like a bee. bring ur mouthpiece home to practise. beginner is like tat one. I spend 6mths to reach high C. 1 yr to reach high G. but after all tis, I find i can't play soft liao
