Will you let your kids learn music?

To parents with kids, do you let your kids learn music? Why and which instrument do you let them learn? Do they like it, or are you just making them learn because you believe it'll be good for them [or other reasons]?
To parents without kids and unmarried folks, will you want your kids to learn music? Why?
Personally, I will let my children learn music in future. That's firstly because when the child grows up, he/she will at least have a skill in something other than academic studies. And in case the child grows up to be like me, I don't want him/her to regret not learning music the proper way as a child. Secondly, I believe that a music in education is beneficial to a child's development..

only if they want to.. then there should be a sit-down and serious talk with them about it...
never force them to...

i'm not musically inclined, but the time i was made to play the piano was a total torture.. -

Oh yahhh I forgot to add. I won't force them if they aren't willing too
My aunt makes her daughter learn the violin so she can show off in front of her friends
Everytime they come to my place for family gathering, she'll force her daughter to play or practise in front of everyone.
If one has to be forced to learn music, there isn't any point in it at all because the soul isn't put into it.. -

good thing my parents didn't force me to learn anything...
even though my father knew how to play the guitar
it was until sec 5 where i just felt the urge to learn how to play it.
my father knew chords only, so i learnt the basics there.
after that, i had to rely on books and listening to the music to play...
even my friend who knew how to play classical couldn't do much to help, coz basically once u grasp what is happening, u just take the scores and start practising from there... -
I always lament on my not learning music seriously since young. I feel horrible nowadays when I feel like playing some music, but my skills are limited so I can't really play anything. -

i would recommend piano,keyboard,guitar and vocal course !

In my view, letting them learn at least an instrument is purely to let them appreciate the beauty of music.

music is wonderful... but some people are just wired in such a way that they are indeed "musically declined"... like me...
can't play a musical instrument to save my life!
but when a child has interests in any instrument, do have a serious talk with your child.. quietly and seriously.. and if it is for real (don't delude yourself.. it is not about yourself, but for your child), encourage with all your might -

well, i wun force them la.. but it would benifit them. something like guitar or smth. i wish i took guitar when i was young... now.. i just pick up for around 1 year. haha. sounds so good... remember i posted in here, asking around if i shoud learn guitar or drums.

i prefer to stick to guitar lor.. better to be master or smth than master of none.

I regretted I didn't learn't the piano earlier. Now that i'm older, I find piano music a real beauty!
