  Actually I once learnt of a method from SSO trombonist Ms Chong Shoo Mei [I'm not sure if she is still there]. She taught us to practise high notes by first starting on a note, say, high C on position 6, then glissing up to F. The rest of the procedure I cannot remember. Maybe you can try it.. then maybe hold the note there?
