Have confidence in yourself. You need the confidence to express yourself well through the instrument. Playing in a band is for performance, so how can you not have enough confidence?

I noe the trombone is quite heavy, but using the same technique u did on ur mouthpiece alone, TRY lifting up the trombone STRAIGHT. U will find it easily to reach high notes.
