What can you do to control the spread of Toxoplasma? Restrict your pet cats from access to rodents and birds, and give them only cooked meat, commercially prepared cat food, and pasteurized dairy products. Don't allow them to scavenge in garbage cans.Phew. I only feed the kitty cat food and I don't let it go anywhere dirty. And everytime I clean up its home I wear gloves and dump them after one use. And there're no sandboxes nearby
Transmission of oocysts present in garden soil, children's sandboxes, litter boxes, and anywhere cats may defecate can be avoided by wearing rubber gloves during contact with contaminated soil or litter. Wash your hands thoroughly after contact. Cover sandboxes to prevent cats from defecating in them. Get rid of feces from litter boxes every day, and disinfect them with scalding water or dry heat; chemical disinfection is not effective in destroying oocysts.

Okay I'll take extra caution.
no litterbox yet.. my mom doesn't wanna sponsor cos she's not exactly for the idea of me keeping kitty. currently it's just newspaper in the cage =( but I'll get a litterbox as soon as possible.Originally posted by the Bear:good
got litterbox for it? use lots of baking soda to absorb the smell
if i was living in my own place, i'd get a bunny

I feel so bad for keeping the kitty caged at night. I'd love to have it sleep with me on the bed.. But I guess it's not quite safe right, given that it might pass on the virus to me?Originally posted by the Bear:aiyah.. dunno why moms are always bent outta shape when children want to keep pets.. even when we know and are responsible for our pet's upkeep and maintenance
i like cats but i think i'll never be able to keep one.. they'll go stalk and hunt any other pets i would like to keep..
they're like that

Kitty is a him little darling kittyOriginally posted by the Bear:not about yet
also, if you train it (uhh.. training a cat??) well enough, it'll recognise that the cage is "his home" so will go in there by itself
uhh.. kitty is a him or her?
pls dun think too muchOriginally posted by MooKu:Kitty is a him little darling kitty
Train.. the kitty knows that it should do its business in there, it does it daily...
But I suppose it hates the stupid cage because we keep him in there at night. Recently when I try to put the kitty in, it seems to be refusing to go in.
And actually now, I'm not sure whether I wanna keep the kitty cos of the germ thingy.. I'd love to keep him, but...

my dog licks my face n even my mouth! when i come home everyday.
no adverse effects... even though he goes around playing and sniffing in the garden everyday
keep the kitten.
but dun feel too bad abt caging it up... or even better just make a wire mesh enclosure for it to roam freely in... and do give him a few chew toys or maybe a improvised stratch post?
i dun really advise bringing him to sleep with u cos it'll become a habit... but as long u spend adequate time with him... there shouldnt be any guilt!
treasure your pet!
and after so long then u see my thread!
tot u MIA liao.
haha its ok!Originally posted by MooKu:My dog does too.. But cats carry a kind of parasite which can cause adverse psychological effects on human beings... I think there is a link to the article posted by the Bear above. I don't wanna undergo a personality change
Or maybe I'll think about it for a while more, since no one wants to adopt kitty yet.
My brother refuses to let the dog step onto grass because he says she'll get fleas..
Kitty wails everytime he's in the cage when I'm around.. then my heart pain pain niaa.. sigh.
I also dunno how come I missed your thread hee.
the hamsters ah? were u the one?Originally posted by bismarck:sigh....u both got pets....

sianz...
do you want more kittens.. i have 2 up for adoptionOriginally posted by Maya061:I even have ...urrrmmm.. 4 cats and 3 kittens.
Hamsters are cute and furry... I'd wanna keep them too, but my house is too big, and if they run loose and get lost, it may be weeks before I locate them Like my cousin, he had hamsters and one of them ran all over his house, only to be discovered behind a sofa around a week later. Funny how come it survived.Originally posted by the Bear:both my hamsters died of old age...
they lived long lives eating things they weren't supposed to eat.. like chicken, duck, crickets, roast pork and stuff like that
they were adorable but lifespan is very short..
thinking of getting another to spoil and pamper

My kitty likes to munch on cockroaches. Everytime it sees one, it'll chase after it like some toy and play around with it before crunching it up.
Ahh yah! the Cat will eat.Originally posted by the Bear:put them in a Hamster Ball
it's a plastic ball which you can place the hamster into.. you'll never lose the hamster this way
but with a cat around, not good.. sure to get eaten
