I like classical music too! But more of orchestral works I like to listen to 92.4FM during lunchtime cos that's the time I know when they play all those big orchestral stuff.
Hee in that CD I like Rhapsody in Blue the most And "Music of the Night" remains my favorite song from the Webber musicals.

aaaaaughhhhh! I love mononoke too! but i didn't take note of the composer i just know it's very nice and i just listen to it over and over and over and over again i think generally the hayao miyazaki anime soundtracks are good.. are they all written by the same person?Originally posted by Johnptl:Helloz =),
I think Joe HIsaishi is amazing.. his music always gives me a soothing feeling ! One of his more remarkable composition, i think is Princess Mononoke and Journey to the west =) .
I also like the joyful and spirited music of James Barnes... like Foxfire ! And yea Andrew Webber's Phamtom of the Opera is my fav. too !!
night on bald mountain...? mooku swakoo never hear before..Originally posted by ntu slacker:heee glad u rem me
i like orchestral works too... heh... like Louis Clark Journey Through the Classics series with the London Philharmonic Orchestra. The Chicago Symphony led by Shostakovich(?) wasnt bad too...
rhapsody in blue is nice as well... but i didn't like night on bald mountain in the fantasia anthology... it sounded a little spooky.
fantasia 2000 din disappoint with its Firebird Suite anyway... its one of the most visually dazzling animations i ever seen and it did go very well with the music
wow... you really know alot abt classicalsOriginally posted by MooKu:night on bald mountain...? mooku swakoo never hear before..
i didn't quite like firebird suite [the piece itself] cos i dunno.. i found it a little boring and then sometimes soft sometimes loud [if i never remember wrongly].. my fav from fantasia is rhapsody in blue, then piano concerto no.2 allegro that's the one with the wooden soldier is it?
noo la gee i only listen to wat's nice.. never really bother to study them... never even heard of bald mountain how can know alot.. lol.Originally posted by ntu slacker:wow... you really know alot abt classicals
yup
the steadfast tin soldier...
damn how could i forget that one... so touching... admit when i hear tt song i will cry a bit
rhapsody in blue is the one abt life in a busy city? and how each of the people find their happiness and truth in their monotonous lifes later? heee
night on bald mountain isnt very nice... will send u the mp3 one day... spooky... and also the animation kinda glosses on the defeat of the devil by holy forces (God)... sidetrack: when the chruch bells ring... can hear the music suddenl;y become very still and quiet... eerie stuff if u ask me
heh music is meant to be appreciated not studiedOriginally posted by MooKu:noo la gee i only listen to wat's nice.. never really bother to study them... never even heard of bald mountain how can know alot.. lol.
night on bald mountain hmmm was it in fantasia 2000? i don't have any recollection at all personally i dun like pieces that are soft then suddenly very loud
true true.. music's meant to be appreciated... but to me, one cannot fully appreciate the piece of music without knowing more about it. Like if a piece had been written because of some sad event, knowing that fact would've evoked more feelings upon listening to the piece of music... I'm not quite satisfied with just listening to nice pieces..Originally posted by ntu slacker:heh music is meant to be appreciated not studied
so i guess its fine
night on bald mountain is in the original fantasia
old music but like old wine... its still can hold up its own!
personally i prefer music that can convey feelings of emotion or a fairy tale story
words can only tell so much... its the atmosphere that the music creates.
heh u have ICQ or MSN? then we could share some songs as well talk about that
