Was just thinking of buying a guitar... and taking up lessons.
I was told by a friend who said if I signed up with Yamaha, they'd get the guitar for their students. But will it be better if I buy that myself?
And how does the kind of wood used to make the guitar affect the sound produced?
This costs US$4000++..

thats a freaking taylor. no wonder so ex. diff quality guitar produce diff cleaness or warmness sound. depends on wat wood and if the guitar body is damaged.
but personally. its not just the guitar, the skills oso impt 50% guitar quality, 50% player skills. to affect overall performance. u give a monkey a taylor oso wun sound nice. -

Hey by the way, what brands are affordable, yet good? It doesn't have to be VERY good since it's going to be my first guitar. but it has to be GOOD. or at least, reliable.

And then borrow from friends chordbook. Of learn from Kopi. He's good. (advert)

start by borrowing an old guitar rather than buying one. then later straight away buy a good guitar. -

those are called acoustic guitars. for $100 plus can install one into your folk guitar, which are guitars with metal strings.
the difference is one is use nylon strings i tink, the other is metal. again, its preference, different tones, and sounds, see which one u like better. for me? i hv 2 guitars, one folk and another classical. my sis uses the classical -
i learn b4 in yamaha....is each mth around 40+ $ ...each wk once...once is 1 hr...i tink u go Community centre learn aso cheaper.............bt yamaha ok lar....first lesson will learn hw to play songs liaoz...then every lesson play few songs...then when u know hw to play liao they ask u wana play wat song they teach u play lor.....tat time i learn classical guitar...the instructor will ask u get a tuner -cheap 1 around few dollars....if u realy expert..u can tune urself..heee then he will aso ask u buy guitar ...their student model lor....around 200+ ....hwever u go to their lessons every wk..they will provide u guitar..bt u need to pracitse at hm mah.....anyway tat time i buy the cheapest yamaha student model around 100+ cos i tink no need to buy till so expensive...i learn for half yr then stop le...cos class grows frm 10 ppl to me alone......then dn feel like joinin other class...too ...lidat lor..tink nex time i go community centre join cheaper...or pracise at hm...can get scores frm the net for the songs u wan....

i play classical music, hence i'm using a classical guitar.
i have a folk and electric which i hardly touch
those with holes, you can plug it into an amplifier. but they cost a tad more. -
