I like Metallica's songs like creeping death, nothing else matters and enter sandman.

metallicash sold out...
from urging people to bootleg their concerts to money-grubbing corporate sellouts...
still, i like their older stuff like Kill Em All and Ride the Lightning...
prefer stuff like Nine Inch Nails tho' -

Metallica kinda went downhill in st anger...main reason...lack of booze.....james hetfield went to rehab and decided to make lovey dovey(by their standards) songs....thyre pretty alrite...too commercialised...i still prefer Slayer....

they, who told people to bootleg their stuff in the past, took Napster to court and desecrated what they preached in the past... to spread music... just because they felt they were being "ripped off"...
it's well-documented...
oh well... nevermind... i still enjoy the music of their past.. but i do think they're pretty much "has-beens" now...

hey look, ur not getting old, this is not only ur opinion, almost all of their loyal fans has the same thinking... St anger really is a big disappointment... Also a joke to me.. After the Black album came out and after years and years of relentless touring round the world plus a lengthy break, I think that Metallica lost the ability to write great thrash riffs. I think the break was so lengthy that their approach to writing songs changed and that they may never make an album as good as anything from Kill 'em all to Black.
I, myself hated Load, Reload and St Anger especially as Lars' sounds like hes hitting water buckets. I would still go to watch them play but purely for the old stuff.
Slayer have always remained hardcore to their roots because Kerry King and Jeff Hanneman are still influenced by the same sound and style to this day. They have an uncomprimising attitude when it comes to writing slayer songs and is why the slayer sound has never really changed or evolved. -

They lost their direction way before St. Anger came out. It was from Load onwards that things took a downhill slide musically. Also I feel that Jason Newstead leaving the band also had an effect.
The fans lacklustre reaction to Load and Reload probably brought on Jimmy's boozing to be honest. Then getting off the booze before St Anger probably made situations worst.
I need to see 'Some Kind of Anger' that Metallica documentary. Any of you guys seen it? -

i've seen the documentary. it's not bad.. but haven't show here in singapore yet.. To me, i feel that Metallica changed because of Bob Rock and they went into the mainstream..
