No disrespect to all the log personnel and the rest of the support arms like signals. I am from the Combat Engineers and we also wear the blue berets. But I think it is high time we Engineers are given a different colour or something to distinguish us from the rest of the support arms. The work we used to do ie. carrying hundreds of kgs of metal bridge and connecting them by hand is no mean task. We also do alot of explosive ordinance. Although alot of manual bridging is being phased out, I hope SAF does something to recognise us Engineers who completed NS with injured backs, a minority even with broken fingers or even worse, missing fingers.
Infantry, Guards, and Commandos are distinguished by their berets, and I think Engineers more than deserve their own colours or something of difference.
A good thing I heard is that all Engineers will be crossed trained to be experts in explosives handling thereby giving us each an EOD batch to distinguish us as Engineers.
Oh yah, by the way, I have ORD.

I agree with u there. Considering all the crap the engineers have to put up with and go thru, they do require some recognition, i guess. As for me, no i was not from engineers, but i was under of Supply and Transport, which automatically meant a blue beret. Had quite a few chances to work with pple from engineers tho... Always found them very nice and jovial despite all the nonsense they have to put up with.... -
hmm...does the colour of the beret really matters tt much to u all? I think it is the process of how u earn it n how u r gg to keep your head for tt beloved beret tt's impt...the bottomline is tt this is our country n we muz do our best to protect it...b4 anybody start to label me as some patriotic nuts rite...to set the record straight...i'm not...i've cursed n swear during my ns time...but if tt's one thing i believed...singapore is the country i've grown up in...despite the fact tt i've been to many other places in the world...singapore is n will be the only country tt i'll truely call home...tt's why i'll protect it at all cost...not coz i love the country...but i love my home...n no 1 will ever invade my home...not even tt damn "friendly" neighbour up north...

My beret is truely blue with the air force crest on it
Which means I'm from the air force. Ok, I'm from Tengah airbase. I orded in Dec 98. We air techs keep the aircraft air worthy and of course have to bear with the nonsense some pilots give. Even the SCP gives us lots of problems like config changes. Who says air tech jobs are very relaxing? -
Me too..At HQ MES..my previous unit..I managed to caht with a few ppl who were Engineer trained..Believe me, they are very professional and knowledgeable about their work.I dare say that they have the most patience and the best capability for improvisation in the field
