hi, i just got my license a few month ago, want to buy bike, but my friends told me there is a lot of bike shop waiting to chop cai tao, so can someone here recommend me bike shop??? thanks...
hee, also, i thinking of buying a 1st hand ta200, any places to recommend??? and those who had bought ta200 before, how much do you pay for downpayment, installment for how long, and all the extra things like insurances, tax, etcetc??? what is the total cost???i this year 20 and just got my license a few months ago oni... thanks!

Hi, welcome welcum bradder. Me a phantom p-plate also. i think can get a brand new phantom for under 6k. u just wait for some of the pple to reply...i cant really help canse i also kanna chop.
be patience..meanwhile can go walk walk around and compare prices. if possible find ur uncle with is old and haf tons of experience, tahn ur insurance will be cheaper.

Brought nothing that is above $5500. Try looi's(very reputable and trustable) for TA200. Dunnoe the price now, but put 100% sure on the way they do business. Maybe can try bike production too....$4750 OTR without IU i think.

IU is not a definately NEED or complusory thing for u to ride on the road. U can still ride a bike without it legally. Installment at 5% per year i think. Not very sure. u call and ask better. Cash is confirmed more expensive(funny right?). Plz, every bike has it's own purpose. Phantom is not use to race, and i feel there's nothing wrong riding it. And YES, i am a phantom rider. And i really enjoy CUISING on my bike at 80-90km/hr when i am not in rush.Originally posted by nismoS132:tip no.1

Get a sport bike if u wanna race. Accelerate fast, corner fast.
Get a cuiser if u enjoy constant cuising speed.
Get a retro scooter if u like the look and ride slow for transport purposes.
Get a Scambler if u like real fast pick-up and no top-end.

Mark, you ever thought of upgrading ? If you do, you might want to consider buying 2nd hand bike. And more so if you are getting your first bike. Just an advice. -

with interest rates that low nowadays, unless they get the fella to drag the interest up to 5 years, even then they don't earn much.

well i have been doing some bike shopping over the weekend, checked with Boon Siew Phantom 200 is abt 6200 OTR with a 2 helemt box,IU unit, 1/2 yr road tax,1 yr insurance for a 27yr old biker...
However there's another parallel import bike tt goes for 4.2k with a helmet and plastic cover for the bike and the nec stuff for OTR.
Why such a big difference between a parallel and a Boon Siew Bike??
Are all Honda bikes under Boon Siew?? -

Rumours said that if boon siew sell cheaper than other bike shops, other bike shops may self import themselves causing boon siew to have less profits (bike shops get their bike from boon siew).

Bike production. I found it curious also at the moment i knew it. Take for example: They sell phantom200 at $4750 OTR, quote in newspaper. This is the price of Nov-Dec 2002. Then when u go down and order, u say u wanna pay full cash, they like dun wanna sell to u liao(i shocked). many bike shops take their bikes from boon siew as well, there's where they earn their money from and as they buy in bulk, they get it in lower prices. plus there's other stuffs like trader's discount that we ordinary folk don't get. a couple ppl walking into their showroom every other week isn't going to pay the bills.
