Need advice for Scooter purchase

Hi all,
I'm a newbie looking to purchase a scooter. Seems like the cheapest, with potential to mod etc. Any help regarding wat to look out for, or average prices would be v much appreciated!
Also can pm me! Sorry for asking so basic questions, but I dun even know what bike shops are good for scooters, so dun even know where to start looking!

Well, are u looking for a auto scooter or a manual one? Manual one you r left wif vespa liao. Auto there a few model available,
1) skipper(cheap but anytime break down)
2) hexagon(still ok, but since its a old bike, be prepare, unless u get a newer version)
3) runner 180(fast, but petrol consumption very high, but this should apply to most of auto 2 stroke bike la)
maybe i might left out a few more, let the other members advise u. I would take 4T Honda wave if i were u, 3K oni to go on road, somoremore brand new one, $4 for full tank and mileage can go up to 200++, no 2T needed, save alot of $$$$$. But provided that u dun mind the look and speed loh, if not it will be a perfect transport bike. -

Actually I prefer an auto bike, but like you mentioned either eat petrol or prone to break down (skipper/hexagon)
Btw, you riding a Runner? Go how fast ah? Fuel consumption? (full tank go how far?)
Thanks for recommendation for Honda Wave. Guess dats the smart thing to do, but nobody ever told me I was smart before!
Was thinking along the lines of Vespa & Piaggio, I saw some on the road very beautiful, white wall tyres, the works! & sum more buy the bike cheap, every month do one thing at a time, more affordable.
I live in the west, dunno if u know any cheap/reliable motobike shop to recommend me? Want to have a look first. Any Vespa fans out there can help out??

The Wave so chio one ah?!! But I read the thread from the link you posted and its mentioned that the bike is v small. I'm abit tall (1.75m) wait look v funny on small bike! 
I oso visited some links to the Cup types of bikes, v popular in Thailand, but S'pore like not v cool, cannot impress the ladies!!! -

Anybody can share what is the average price of an old Vespa? Heard that we can service the bike ourselves, like change engine oil etc, true?
Got one seller quote me a '93 Vespa $1000, COE just renew. V ex rite? No mod some more. How? -

I dont really know alot abt bike, i just tell u wat i know oni la. Ya, riding runner, $9 will only last u for abt 170km++, and it depend also, if pillion alot then the milleage lesser, i heard before that some runner full tank can oni hit 140++,
Think there is a shop that sell scooter only, at Ubi, should be located at the 2nd row. I tried vespa before, the clutch is very stiff, but that can be ajusted to fit yourself. Brake wise, not very effective leh, so can be quite dangerous, and at high speed, once heavy vehicle zoom pass you your bike will sure swerve. Its also quite scarly to ride along Shears bridge, cause the wind there is strong,
So think abt the bike u wan to get la, kup kia is fine la, especially if u wan to upgrade in the future, or u might wan to consider RXZ?? -

hehe... me not that tall lah, think scrambler CG too high, conering scary! Some more if want to pillion lagi worse!
Runner 180, actually I dunno how far Vespa can go on full tank, but 140++ with passenger does seem abit on the low side. I would definately like the performance and the chio styling, unfortunately cannot afford to "feed" my bike!
But I am abit worried abt the lousy brakes and light frame of a Vespa. How man?! I very newbie rider leh... xiao liao...
In the mean time, must go check out the ubi scooter shop, thanks for the tip, appreciate v much!
