so far i know ave price to wash carb is $15...Originally posted by FOOZ:i duno if tis helps anot... but the last tym i went 4 servicing, the mech said my idling speed 4 sp too low..... so need 2 wash e caburettor, but i was in a hurry so i told him nvm, nx tym i come den do....hw much is it 2 wash the cab aniway??...
i din noe we cld adjust the idling spd on sp bike... whrs the knob aniway??
from what u mean, is that v-power will allow u to go fast but at a short total distance as compare super98??? my sp can go ave i think a total distance of 250km for full tank... if i use super98, will the distance be longer???Originally posted by dookie:hi...newbie here...as can c from my no. of posts...juz wanto say somethings TO THE BEST OF MY KNOWLEDGE
v-power burns very fast...hence the power...but at the same time it oso burns at a higher temp than other petrol...so if ur bike's optimum temp is not high...then its not good for ur engine in the long run
juz my 2 cents worth
it ok lah since u also dun know... i think i will stay to v-power... they said petrol station at jb add water in the petrol, by any chance u know whether it's true or not???Originally posted by dookie:chris...i canot confirm on tat cos according to ppl at shell (used to work at shell petrol station) the mileage shd be the same cos although vpower burns faster...it oso burns more completely...but then again tats wat they claim...so i suggest tat if u really wanna know...juz do a simple experiment...fill one tank vpower then c how the mileage got differ...
that's the same way my motor shop wash too... so cheap arh at $5... the only diff is that they use their own petrol...Originally posted by dookie:chris...one more thing...i wash my carb at my moto tiam ay bk merah lane 1....$5...tink u say $15 u kena tok liao...but then again mayb ur one $15 they wash damn clean and alot of efforts i duno lah...
down at my mototiam for $5 they take out my carb...dismantle everything...take some of my petrol...then wash wif brush the carb and all the small screws
hahaha... maybe u can go in to eat mah... my one max $17 but still go in as stay yishun... quite near... at motor tiam is at which side??? north south east or west???Originally posted by dookie:chris...i heard alot abt jb petrol...but nv say they mix water leh...i oso nv go jb pump b4...frens jio...but my lanjio tz tank only max $11...then i say y bother? i tinking next time get 400cc...tank bigger...more worth it to go...
just wanna ask other fellow ridersOriginally posted by dookie:v-power burns very fast...hence the power...but at the same time it oso burns at a higher temp than other petrol...so if ur bike's optimum temp is not high...then its not good for ur engine in the long run
and anyway how to know my bike's optimum temp and its compatibility with certain petrol?Originally posted by dookie:v-power burns very fast...hence the power...but at the same time it oso burns at a higher temp than other petrol...so if ur bike's optimum temp is not high...then its not good for ur engine in the long run

chris u sure ur sp pump $17? yishun is near...i jurong east leh...go come back oredi more than 30 km oredi...but i got considering lah...cos everytimne go in can buy cigarettes...hehe...
fooz...my shop is at bukit merah lane 1...lim ban huat...its basically a repairs only shop as they dun carry any bikes to sell...mostly old ppl...only 1 young lad...he is trainee...but oso do for a few yrs liao...i dun tink u kana tok...cos my servicing normally is $14....change eng oil $6 (lousy cos bike old...put rocket fuel oso the same) carb $5...spark plug $3...recently i oso change my chain...i duno much abt chain...only saw tat the brand is DID...i ask him if he change o-ring for me...he say no...cos o-ring very ex...tat sprocket asnd chain cost me $58...i know he wun tok me cos regular liao...so i trust them alot...but this shop is mostly rxks and lcs and ah pek bikes come look for them...i oso duno y...seldom c young ppl riding sp...tzm...or kawa go there...wan more details can pte me
$17??? sp can pump so much meh???.... usu i pump till the fuel level reach the metal bar in the tank... max i ever reach is $13... hw 2 reach $17???
i svc my bike at dexing... but thr veri far, coz i live in bukit batok... thinkin of a nearer alternative... will try out tis plc the nx tym i nid svc-ing... tks dookie
i tink u better top up ur coolant level or if u wan, can also flush it n replace with fresh ones....Originally posted by Ducati996:just wanna ask other fellow riders
now that u mention this, i remember my ta150, now with v-power, temp rise quite fast, especially traffic jam. btw, i onli squeeze if jam on expressway car never move, else if they go evn dam slow at 40kmh i will good boy follow within lane (only when bad jam to overtake is to squeeze dat kind). dats why evritime got jam i panic coz can see my ta150 temp rise very quick.
anybody here who got experience, is it that wif v-power temp will rise dam fast as compared to normal 98s?
i think ur motortiam is right... today i went in to pump again and i saw a pool of fluid under my bike... maybe that's the petrol that i over pump... haiz... thanks for ur advice....Originally posted by dookie:yah ducati i agree wif white phantom...vpower burns at a higher temp but i dun tink it whd be so bad as to overheat ur engine....check cooling agent as in radiater...mayb...juz mayb stg wrong there...
as to how ur supose to know wats the optimum temp for ur bike...hmm...tats quite diff...if got manual can try to get the info from there? but my lanjio tz always overheat 1....so no diff so i dun bother abt the temp gauge..anyway i pump bp 98...
chris...i hv frens doin ur tis method...but hv u ever tot of it? where does the petrol go when u shake here shake there? does it go into ur carb? do u tink the carb can hold more than $1 of petrol? IMHO i tink it goes to waste thru the excess hole...my petrol tank got one hole which my mototiam tell me its for petrol to flow out when u pump overshot...bt im not sure oso lor...so cant confirm...
juz my 2 cents worth
no no u misunderstand it never overheat on me b4, i just noticed that it rise a little faster, so i was wondering if it was my riding or the v-power. but now i know its the v-power.Originally posted by WhitePhantom:i tink u better top up ur coolant level or if u wan, can also flush it n replace with fresh ones....
i tot of checking my manual too, but even if they give u a figure, as in a range of temperatures for optimum performance, how will i know if that range considered high or low? and then again how will i know the temperature at which a particular petrol burns?Originally posted by dookie:yah ducati i agree wif white phantom...vpower burns at a higher temp but i dun tink it whd be so bad as to overheat ur engine....check cooling agent as in radiater...mayb...juz mayb stg wrong there...
well thanx but i mentioned, didnt overheat just rise a little faster then when i first ride using esso98.

well, i tink riding at low speeds such 30-60 kmh all the time wil cos the bike to heat up pretty fast, esp in jams or finding places to park in carparks... kekeOriginally posted by Ducati996:no no u misunderstand it never overheat on me b4, i just noticed that it rise a little faster, so i was wondering if it was my riding or the v-power. but now i know its the v-power.
btw, wat happens when bike overheat? as in, engine stall or wat? and on the road if this happen wat to do? top up the coolant wif water?
what will happen if use plain water instead of coolant??? i topped it with water a fer month ago but till now still not yet finish... it dropping veri slow but no prob with my bike temp...Originally posted by WhitePhantom:nevertheless, i tink petrol got nothing to do with the engine temp...
its jus a phycological effect brudder....
but stil its advisable to check ur coolant, maybe once every 3-4 months...
i jus topped up about 100ml at my last service....
someone told me before not to use tap water coz it contain chemicals which may damage the bike, better to use mineral water. true or not i donno i never tried it before.Originally posted by ChRiS TaY:what will happen if use plain water instead of coolant??? i topped it with water a fer month ago but till now still not yet finish... it dropping veri slow but no prob with my bike temp...
