lao jiao words mus take noteOriginally posted by aaron017:What is your rpm when u start without the choke? Unless the rpm to low and the engine keep dying, then u turn a bit... keep it lower then 2k.... 1.2k can do...
oh, my rpm meter spoiled liao... the bike keep dying so i think it's quite low lah... i tried to warm up my bike by turning the trottle but after a while when i stop turning, the motor die... what i want to know now is will open choke spoil the bike?Originally posted by aaron017:What is your rpm when u start without the choke? but the thing is it's hard to warm up my bike without open the choke leh... turn trottle will take quite sometime... somemore still will die engine... what to do...Originally posted by aaron017:I dunno for you, but if choke open liao hor, after you warm up, you close the choke, the rpm super low one.... have to blow and blow and blow to keep it alive... I heard from the lao jiaos that it is not good.... so just dun try lor....
Your idling too low is it?Originally posted by ChRiS TaY:but the thing is it's hard to warm up my bike without open the choke leh... turn trottle will take quite sometime... somemore still will die engine... what to do...
err... i oso warm up bike wif choke... but my ta150 no rpm meter lehOriginally posted by aaron017:What is your rpm when u start without the choke? think u shd try increase ur idling speed.Originally posted by ChRiS TaY:but the thing is it's hard to warm up my bike without open the choke leh... turn trottle will take quite sometime... somemore still will die engine... what to do...
one thing i dun know is what is idling speed??? as for the rest of EVERYONE advice, thanks a lot for it... i will try them out to see which way better...Originally posted by Ducati996:think u shd try increase ur idling speed.
ppl say ta150 and nsr150sp same engine, so can say urs and mine more or less the same. i oso use choke, oso use v-power. first time i hear v-power can spoil bike, i only hear if use 95 and below no good for the bike. oso, with v-power my warmup prob not as bad as last time u used Esso 98. with esso 98 take very long time to warm and move off always sound like bike never eat rice. its a very distinct sound, not like engine stall, more like mid-rpm no power dat kinda sound. think u hear it before too.
this is what i do (disclaimer: i am not a mechanic, try at your own risk)
once u start engine in the morning, let it run and listen to the sound. if engine got knocking sound (tom-tom-TOM-tom-tom-TOM) then i increase idling, just until the knocking sound smooth but before it gets rapid, ie, (tom-tom-tom-tom-tom) instead of (tomtomtomtomtom).
heh heh hope u understand
btw, manual say must use donno wat digital meter plug into donno where and measure the donno wat thing to get correct idling speed.
i donno where the knob for idling speed on the sp is, for my phantom its at the side.Originally posted by ChRiS TaY:one thing i dun know is what is idling speed??? as for the rest of EVERYONE advice, thanks a lot for it... i will try them out to see which way better...
how does this choke work ah?Originally posted by nismoS132:u're supposed to turn off the choke immediately after you start your bike, not leave it on as you warm up...
hi, i hapen 2 start my bike the wae u mention but i got 2 wait damn long man...Originally posted by Ducati996:think u shd try increase ur idling speed.

wat u mean by taking long time?Originally posted by P-Plate TZR:hi, i hapen 2 start my bike the wae u mention but i got 2 wait damn long man...
hmmm.... does petrol has sumthin 2 do wif warmin up also????Originally posted by Ducati996:wat u mean by taking long time?
if u meant take long time to warm, think u misunderstand. the method i tokking was my own personal technique to get ideal idling speed for my bike, ie, high enuff not to stall frequently and low enuff not to waste petrol. its not a technique to warm my bike.
unless u mean something else taking a long time...?
for warming wat i do (only in morn coz later part of day no prob liao) i kick start wif choke on and slightly open throttle. then after start, without turning off choke, i open throttle slightly then immediately close and wat happens is the bike will run at an audibly higher rpm, by itself as if i open throttle but with my throttle closed. i dont rely on my temp gauge coz its not reliable to check if my bike sufficiently warm to move off.
my personal signal to know if warm enuff, firstly the higher rpm i tok about will just drop by itself within one minute; secondly i check my pipe, when start with cold bike thick white smoke will come out which will gradually become thinner. oso, when i move off if engine sound like wanna die i play throttle but this one i think everybody know.
using my method i find that i light up cigarette just before kick start, by the time cigarette about to finish 4 mins later bike can blow. must say last time i used esso98 very slow to warm, finally i use this method take a bit less time but will still occasionally stall at junction outside my carpark, finally i changed v-power, with this method, cigarette finish i go no problem at all.
dats why i wanna ask why leave choke on to warm will damage bike. ppl say will damage but nobody say in what way. i not mechanic i admit i donno but i cannot accept ppl say something without saying why.
i not chemical engineer i have no ideaOriginally posted by P-Plate TZR:hmmm.... does petrol has sumthin 2 do wif warmin up also????
look for a yellow colored screw on the right side inside the fairings.Originally posted by FOOZ:i din noe we cld adjust the idling spd on sp bike... whrs the knob aniway??
