Weight:
Vtec is lighter alot more than Version S. Is really really alot difference.
Handling:
Height wise, vtec is lower, version s is higher. Both are good in corners, depending on rider. Difference is in the forks. Vtec and Version S are diff.
Braking:
Vtec is uses both Nissin Brake Calipers. Version S uses Brembo Brake Calipers for the front, Nissin for the rear, making it better braking for the front and better value.
Version S:
Has 2 batches, old is uses Nissin Brake Calipers, tailboard is different. Newer one uses Brembo for the front, and has a nicer tailboard. One more version is the Honda 50th Anniversary. Its main difference is that it uses magnesium rims, gives better traction to the ground when cornering(also being used in SpecII now). 50th anniversary is the one white base and red stripe. This model itself is generally $500 more expensive.
Maintenance:
Version S does not consume as much petrol than the Vtec. Version S the fuel tank capacity is 15l+3l. Vtec I not familiar. But if you ride smoothly for both bikes, you can get more mileage. ie. don't wack every single pony out of it. Vtec engine oil is around 3.25-3.5l. Version S is only 3l. Maintenance is about the same.
Performance:
Vtec has better and faster pickup than Version S. Both bikes are high rev bikes. To chase a Vtec on a Version S, you have to bring your RPM at least above 10k every gear till you catch up. But top end around the same. Superfour max max i heard was only 210km/h. But you have to spend quite alot just to reach that speed. Vtec can hit that speed if with proper tuning, a Red-Rev is a must if not you have to cut some wires beneath the meter, if you can afford, do a Dyno-Jet for it. Will be able to add 2 ponies to it(horsepower). Version S powercut is at the RPM of 12500. Vtec is at 13500. Vtec kicks in at 6750 SpecII kicks in at 6350. SpecII i yet to hear any news on derestrictor for it. Version S must change the CDI or add a Derestrictor.
Drawbacks:
The rectifier frys after a year usually. Vtec is better as its outside, but Version S is cover under the left sideboard, so it frys more often.
