Well, understand the cause of the prob. and accept it as a reality.
If your heart is broken due to being dumped, understand that if you have done something wrong, amend it. If you did not and someone left you for another, then accept the facts, be strong and move on.
If your heart is broken due to being betrayed, learn to forgive and move on. Being angry and thinking of revenge will get you nowhere.
If your heart is broken due to death of someone, well, the late person won't want you to be living in misery.. so move on and lead a better life.
Ultimately, you will need to give yourself the following..
1. Chances,
2. Time,
3. Motivation. -

once in a while, when you least expect it, it'll pop up...
but with time, the "once in a while" becomes less and less regular...
and hopefully, by that time, it'll stop hurting and you'll just go "oh!" and that's that...
give it time yah?
and here's a way.. make more friends and occupy yourself... can start by signing up for the sgforums barbeque

a friend of mine recently broke up with girlfren also. he became quite sullen and dejected for a period of time.
but he a tough cookie, got right back on his feet. since time usually spent with gf has been free-ed up, he made use of it to meet up wth all his buds, picked up a new musical instrument, and found more time to pursue his other interests.
he's almost back to the driven, playful guy he was. but it took some time. and alot of effort on his part to put the past behind him.
time heals wounds, you can only help it along. -

it's been almost 2 years for me already....
just turned on the tv and there was Japan Sunday.. used to imagine bringing my ex to Japan and sample the Japanese food shown in the series...
used to hurt like hell when i thought about it, but now, it's just a reminder of a time past... and an "oh" comes to mind..
it takes time... give it time yah? -
yes, i know. apparently time is suppose to heal, meanwhile its a bummer when u remember things. its a choice i made, to choose and to let go. i should live by it. i do go 'oh' when i see things but deep down it cuts pretty deep.
yes there are plenty of things to occupy my mind. but... sigh! guess i'm a real sentimental person.. gotta to fix that.
