Too bad LTA just wants to screw ard with not having a centralised bus ter i guess.
With T5 nxt on the list, rly hope they can do smth abt it, or they can just simply screw things again, pampering "T5 only" routes and then spam DDs LOLs
Dude just look at the amount of expressways 858 plies.. I'm honestly not surprised 110 would be taro infested but 858? Too much la..

True. 4 expressways in all, and fully covering the entire length of TPE. I think distance wise is still barely ok for the express sector coz there are also many other long dist buses like 506 and 51 to cite some as eg, but in fact i find is the stress it needs to take for travelling 3 plus hours on the road per trip, and high loadings that make things worse. It's the overall length of 858 route that is the root problem
Talking abt overall route distance, isnt most, if not all, the CGA routes damn long?!
Originally posted by carbikebus:Wonder why also..MB OC500LE,Scania K230UB is all 12m,MAN A22 is at 11.98m while Citaro is at 11.96m..Comfort and Power wise belong to A22 but the bus is notoriously known for sudden jerk upon acceleration and consume more fuel than others,OC & KUB known for their jerky brakings and the high portion doesn’t favour senior citizens but can carry 2 PIWs..Citaro is the least powerful but most buses got good brake retarders.
FYI.. the shitaro jerks too..
In fact.. more so than any other bus..

858 is the longest route with up to 3h travel time.. and yes Citaros have some intense heating issues when travelling long distance.
Just look at how 36 buses throttles on the way back from Tomlinson to CGA.
Please cool down

I took 110 today from Compassvale Int to Changi Airport T4 and a few observations:
1. The entire fleet was MB Citaro - mixture of LG, SBSMRT and SMRT Pixel
2. No A24 today for 110 - I think no point deploying HC buses on this service so fast, that too on day 1, but Im sure that the loading will go up quite soon. There were standing passengers on first day already even with no free rides on 110. Hope there will be A24s in future. O405Gs i doubt so because they were never cleared to negotiate the sharp bends at the PTBs.
3. To what I observed, Compassvale Int and T4 should be bendy-friendly. SMRT as operator and Compassvale Int could also have been chosen because Sengkang Int is not bendy-friendly (though I know SK int is already at max capacity).
4. T4 should not be DD-friendly. I saw a 3.8m height limit sign at the coach park. Though the public buses do not have to go under this height limit sign, the shelter for the public buses is only as high as the coach park shelter so I guess it should be 3.8m also and CGA didnt bother putting a height limit sign there because they know all public buses are SD only.
5. I saw overcrowded Citaros on 858 today. WELL DONE IN SCREWING THINGS UP LAH LTA. If LTA is going to standardise the fleet as MB Citaro and MAN A24... there better be more MAN A24s deployed man. And it really doesnt make sense to remove MAN A22 when MAN A24s are plying Airport routes

They think standardisation is good.. hey then why can't SMRT get their basics right by just spending a few dollars to buy some green paint for their BELOVED Shitaros ffs!
I'm seriously done with the rubbish SBSMRT Taros! Far inferior in its fleet, has low capacity (just exactly what 858 pax needs ayyy!!), and is jerky and noisy af!
I think after the new Airport and T4 hype has died down we'll start to see variety there again. Like 860 initially full BSEP A22 fleet but after that we see a mixed type deployment. Plus eventually there will not be enough Shitaros to go around when the KUB's and the first SBST shitaros retire.
Painting the SBSMRT shitaros green wont change the shitty acceleration anyway so why waste paint on the shitaros.
All SD's now have similar inferior capacity, far from the days of 44 seating pax per bus from the UD/B10M/O405 days. I'm fine with having space for wheelchairs but not fine with removing seats to pack more standees into sardines. All paxes pay the same fare, all pax deserve a seat.

Fyi A22/KUB/OC got the highest amount of pax falling down while accelerating compared to Citaro...But again I don’t understand why CGA need standardised fleet..

Hahaha that's coz the A22 has a higher acceleration than Shitaro.. proves my point that Shitaros are lousy ass buses..
Also the Shitaro jerks when switching gear.. and yes ppl fall down and launch forward from their seats..
Esp for routes like 858, BCs tend to change gear more given the turns on the TPE and, not to mention, that steep slope on TPE near Changi.. BCs on 34 mostly does this and boy you should see how ppl move inside those crowded Shitaros of theirs..

I do hope 858 reverts back to full MAN.. the fleet it needs..
And yes may the KUBs die early.. not the B2 E4 type but the B1.. yes, the ones utterly battered from JB..
The BB Shitaros from JB should join them too..

So what are you going to do?Complain to LTA lor why deployed so much Citaro for CGA svc..If can distribute those A22 among all operators and you can see less Citaros.

Come on manz, i rly feel the buses nowadays rly jerk rly bad, such as the places where SMB128B mentioned. Tbh was it any better last time when O405 ruled the roads? Iirc frm my faint memory they were much better performers
Hohoho.. and I can already foresee how the 858 Shitaros will be asked to fuck off..
The BCs will sure make noise.. coz many of them used to driving powerful O405s and A22..
When u throw them a shitty bus with horrible acceleration and absolutely trash transmission and suspension.. damn right they will be pissed especially after a 2 hour drive, last thing u want is a bus that doesn't seem to be in a hurry like you are

I have written a feedback into SMRT.. this is no loknger concerning bus fan issues alr, it's about my comfort and convenience as a commuter, and the needs of drivers..
I'm ready for fucking SMRT to bochup alr.. but whatever, most I can do for now..

Hoho the O405s ruled man.. awesome suspension with good acceleration and a fine balance between seating and standing..
And ofc, a PASSENGER INFORMATION SYSTEM..
Wondered what got into MB man. Can't believe I actually scolded the O405s back then, man do I feel ashamed. I was prob rly salty that my 965 Volgrens were replaced w battered Hispanos from JB. Then again, Volgrens definitely triumph over the Hispanos.

You should forward to LTA,Its their instructions.SMRT and the other 3 are just operators.
Each bus got its pro and cons..We’ve as BC already bring up this issue long ago.
Too bad modern low floor/low entry buses got detuned by LTA before it reaches to the operators.ZF6 speed the first two gear and Voith4 speeder is usually the 1st.SBST went one step further reducing the 3rd/2nd gear powerband respectively for ZF/Voith.

Of course.. a svc I hold dearly. Luckily I don't take the 858 when I need to rush, so I can afford to sit and wait for an A24 if need be
Aiya fuck that.. the A24 is the ONLY bus I'll be able to board anyway.. the Shitaros will be too packed to get on

I’ve asked a few Amdep BCs which do they prefer to drive between OC & Citaro,The answer is suprisingly Citaro.

LTA is only in charge of 110 what.. doesn't SMRT still do the roster in the end?
The shitaro just doesn't fit with 858 lor.. it is okay as a feeder bus but as a trunk.. hohoho damn right it'll die..

That's not even the comparison bro, and the OC is indeed heavier than the Citaro, and hence harder to control..

I can tell you the most they tuned the 2nd gear to be more powerful. You should screw LTA instead.Dont forget to ask them transfer a few A22s to GAS & SBST CGA svc,I appreciate that..

As from driver view its the other way round..Both buses capped at 60kmh.A22 does better with feeders and many stop and go svc while Ciporo is suitable for expressway service.

I would love to meet the fucking asshole behind the job..

I read a Facebook comment by a BC some years back and he said he preferred Citaro because the driver's seat is more comfortable or something along that lines and that OC seat was "back breaking" for long distance routes.
