  They probably observed a spike in demand on this section of 856 on Friday during evening peak hour at around 6-7pm, that's why they launched this short-working trip that only operates on Friday from 5:50pm to 7:30pm.

  Thankfully, the jam is only concentrated at roads leading to the causeway. ie. Woodlands Centre Road, Woodlands Road and BKE towards Woodlands Checkpoint. The other roads are not congested during evening peak hours.

  Regarding Amk bto areas coming up, probably: 

  Amk st 21-perhaps new service from AMK hub interchange wil be introduced n must take time since this road no bus stop shelters n need to be bulit plus various services along ave 3 and ave 1.

  As for amk st 51 theres townlink service 265 at st 52 itself plus various services along ave 3 as well. No new service required.

  Regarding 71, there used to be a bus service 71 running between Geylang Lorong 1 Terminal and Old Upper Thomson Terminal.

  The routing is as follows,

  Geylang Lorong 1 Terminal, (Geylang Road, Kallang Road), Sims Avenue, Paya Lebar Road, Upper Paya Lebar Road, (Upper Serangoon Road), Yio Chu Kang Road, (Old Upper Thomson Road) and Old Upper Thomson Terminal.

  And return via Old Upper Thomson Terminal, (Old Upper Thomson Road), Yio Chu Kang Road, (Upper Serangoon Road), Upper Paya Lebar Road, Paya Lebar Road, Geylang Road and Geylang Lorong 1 Terminal.

  *() denotes express sector.

  *Upper Serangoon Road was probably today's Boundary Road.

  This service was replaced with today's bus service 70, which runs about the same route as former bus service 71, between Paya Lebar Road and Yio Chu Kang Road, with minor difference in Serangoon area.

  Did this old 71 run the Upper Peirce Reservoir segment of Old Upper Thomson Road?  I remember vaguely when I was a kid riding on old TIBS 160 along Upper Thomson Road that I once saw what I remember was an SBS bus picking up a group of waiting passengers at Old Upper Thomson Road(at a bus stop?) near the northern most entrance of Old Upper Thomson Road heading towards YCK Road, at the section where Old and the "new" Roads split and are still visible to each other before Old turns off uphill and disappears from the main road.

  That location would be just right outside the current Seletar Range site.

  Ok, you also agree that Ang Mo Kio Street 21 should have a new bus service, which by proximity, it is Ang Mo Kio Avenue 1 that we are talking about.

  Thanks for your comment on Ang Mo Kio Street 51. Considering there's no comment on Ang Mo Kio Street 22/23, I assume you agree with me that that area needs new bus service. Anyway, the road is Ang Mo Kio Avenue 3.

  Looking at the map, the easiest way to connect Ang Mo Kio Avenue 1 and Ang Mo Kio Avenue 3 with Yio Chu Kang Bus Interchange is through Ang Mo Kio Avenue 6.

  The route can be Yio Chu Kang Bus Interchange, Ang Mo Kio Avenue 6, Ang Mo Kio Avenue 3 and Ang Mo Kio Avenue 1.

  To get from Ang Mo Kio Avenue 1 to Bishan Street 11, which is the alledged looping point of this service, the obvious way is via Upper Thomson Road and Bishan Street 21.

  For all we know, this is the route of the upcoming bus service 71. Nonetheless, let's wait for the official press release.

  Yes, the Serangoon-Eunos negotiated contract has 1 new route. After 71, there remains 3 new routes yet to be announced. Serangoon-Eunos may be one of the areas that will get new bus route.

  Considering you emphasise on the word "and", and you have been writing about training buses spotted at Hougang, Ubi, Eunos, Bedok and Changi, I assume you probably have insider information about a new bus service coming up at Serangoon-Eunos.

  If this is true, it looks like there's going to be a new bus service originating from Serangoon area (probably Hougang Bus Interchange), that passes by Eunos and Bedok to arrive at Changi Airport.

  71 route from Mayflower to Bishan is good but what sense does it make to duplicate the route from ave 4 to YCK MRT? Now you have 76, 268 and 71. 

  My suggestion would be that 268 be modified to ply

  AMK Depot > AMK Ave  9 > AMK Ave 6 (YCK MRT, Anderson College) > AMK Ave 5 > AMK Ave 4 and continue on its current route.

  This way AMK Ave 5 will get direct bus to closest MRT + reduce duplication with 71/76.
