Service 912A and 912B to be introduced on 10 September 2017.
Service 912A will ply the Eastern Loop along Woodlands Drive 50, Ring Road and Admiralty MRT station, while Service 912B will ply the Western Loop along Woodlands Avenue 1, Street 41 and Woodlands Centre Road (Woodlands Train Checkpoint).
There will be no change in route for Intra-town Service 912 and variant Service 912M. Commuters travelling between the Eastern and Western loops can continue their journeys on Intra-town Service 912.
Service 912E will be scrapped?

Why so complicated? Why not just split it into two routes, considering there's a need to improve frequency and service reliability on both sides?
I understand the rationale of combining them into one was to improve intra-town connectivity, but from the looks of it, there's a greater need for feeder connection than intra-town connection.
Considering the situation has evolved to this state, it may be better to split the route into two, rather than create one or two route variants for both sides of the route.

Seriously there is no need for 856A,Wasted resources and in the end bunching occured..Woodlands Centre always jam prone...What they need is bus lanes not adding too many buses or service

True that this is rly a serious woe in Woodlands. Any updates abt the expansion of the checkpoint? I rmb this news on ST some time ago but havent heard anything since. Hope that there will be radical changes in that area to ease the endless conjestion woes.
Pertaining to 912 and its family, can i clarify the role of 912E? I also have this gut feeling that 912M will be withdrawn soon. Any thoughts?

I rather if routes are split and numbered as 905, 906, 907 etc instead of as 1 route. Sometimes its a waste of time taking the wrong bus and then have to sit for 40 min

Yes 912E should be more or less scrapped..

"I did not reach my destination of Woodlands Street 41 when I took bus service 912.
Subsequently, I discovered that this same service has two separate routes, serving both the eastern and western parts of Woodlands.
Looking at the route directory or the bus number, there is no way a customer can identify which route the bus will be plying.
I wrote to the Land Transport Authority (LTA) in July and received a reply confirming that "Service 912 is an intra-town feeder that serves both Woodlands Avenue 7 (eastern part of Woodlands Town) and Woodlands Centre Road (western part of Woodlands Town) areas".
The e-mail went on to explain that there are "separate boarding berths for the same service".
I replied to the LTA's e-mail, explaining that if the same service number is serving different routes, it confuses commuters.
A simple 912A and 912B would help commuters identify which bus to board."
Some pax just don't even bother checking the berth destination whether it goes to the East or West loop.. Even having 912A and 912B doesn't mean that this confusion will be entirely solved anyway..
Exactly. I miss the 90's bus numbering

The demolition of the old flats or Woodlands Checkpoint expansion haven't started yet until next year according to sources.

I am more or less wondering if the extreme length of the West loop was the factor behind the separate short trips...

Same thing happened to my mother at PSR Int back in 1997 when SBS started TownLinks. She wanted to go to PSR St 21 that was served by 357 (following 352 alignment) but boarded at the queue for the direction towards St 71 (former 356 queue). Anyway, there were two different colours (green for St 71, yellow for St 21) for the respective queues, which were (and still are) located at adjacent sawtooth berths.

actually the passenger still can reach the destination... just that it will do 2 loops (provided he/she didnt board 912E that day haha)
anyway, imagine he/she kena other intra-town/townlink services... confirm got complain

BAD Move...
Some Svc912 residents in the West is already annoyed with the fact that it's hard to get 912 in the morning peak, especially those rushing for schools. And yet, they are increasing the frequency + adding timetable.
Would be better if they cut short sv912 route, to loop at St41 like 912M instead of heading towards checkpoint. Or increase the frequency for AM peak at least.
Unless the 912A/B Buses is gonna drop you off at the boarding berth, definitely it's gonna be annoying.
If it's for enhancement, they probably should stick with 912's current or off peak frequency. And for 912A/B, probably runs part of the higher demand sector.
912A : Follow 912's east loop
912B : Replace 912M, running full day(Ideal for checkpoint jam period)

Hopefully they will reflect 912, 912A & 912B accordingly on the bus app as well..
Up till now none of the Intra-Towns (I suppose) reflect whether it's E or not on the app..

Would be good to have 912 break into two feeders and have a trunk service connect the two estates such as:
Kranji MRT -> Woodlands Ave 1 -> st 41 -> Ave 1 -> Ave 2 -> Ave 5 -> Woodlands Ring Road -> ave 6 -> ave 10 -> SLE/TPE -> TPE Punggol -> Changi Airport Terminal 4.
Nonetheless, the consolation is that 912A and 912B will operate at two times the frequency as 912, and they will occupy two different berths at Woodlands Bus Interchange.
912 can be re-numbered, extended to Sembawang Bus Interchange and removed from Woodlands Bus Interchange to avoid confusion.

856A should have skipped WTCP instead, turning into Marsiling Road and Marsiling Drive.
