944 is to run by SMRT because of financial issue?Wakaka dun make me laugh la
TTS contract 26 svc:556million for 5 years
GAS contract 25 svc:497.8m for 5 years,68 postponed till further notice but they get more than 2m a year to run 381(additional) unless TTS demands more..

700 withdrawal when?2025?Withdraw still can add more DDs?The one which ought to cut is 171..
171 possible candidate for Gali Batu.

So far no LTA/SMRT press release yet but land transport guru already stated due to economic reasons.Like that why LTA waste time with BCM?Quickly eradicate TTS/GAS from Singapore la,Let SBST and SMRT be dualpoly again

Let SMRT focus on rail transport and SBST focus on buses. The President of Singapore should issue an Executive Order that SMRT offload its bus ops to WTS and take over the rail lines currently under SBST.

Big league.
Originally posted by gekpohboy:Considering the operator is SMRT instead of Tower Transit, there's a possibility that bus service 944 belongs to the Choa Chu Kang-Bukit Panjang negotiated contract, instead of Bulim bus package.
After all, it was mentioned before on SGforums that a bus service would be withdrawn. Bus Service 944 could be the replacement.
If so, the withdrawal of that bus service could be one day before the commencement of new bus service 944.
Nonetheless, let's wait for the official press release from SMRT.
Meanwhile, I don't remember there was any mention about Bulim bus package having new bus route, just more buses: from 367 buses to about 500 buses in 2021.
It was sent to SMRT because there is no space at Bulim Bus Park.

I know everyone keeps saying 700... but its loading has strangely increased in last few months. It dropped severely after 972 was launched and then more after DTL2 but now the loading is back. I think this is to do with 190 already packed from CCK and the new BTOs at Fajar are close to BPJ road as well so people prefer to take 700 where you may have more space than 190 or 972 at that time + new condos opened up along Petir and Dairy Farm too.
To think of it if you live in the east side of BPJ, 700 may bring you faster to city than DTL2 would given that you will have to take bus/LRT and transfer. Hence, IMO 700 loading has improved and hence it has got now 5-6 DDs from just 2-3 HC buses 6-8 months back.
It would be weird if 700 is withdrawn as that will increase pressure on 190/972 that are already operating at 3-5 minutes frequency with DDs.

I agree. Makes more sense to cut 171. 700 still has high loading. will be stupid to cut.

Yes boss,700 still have high loadings..From your analysis and last few weeks i joyride,The DD is well utilise..
Since CCK/BPJ no more space,Can make it terminate at Bukit batok instead

I agreed with you,It would be unwise of LTA to withdraw 700 just because of another so called express svc run parallel with it from CBD to BPJ..

Yeah i know,944 use 40 buses that's why

700 loading increased?

171 unique sector is YIS-BPJ bit. That is the only portion that should stay.

of course yes
and it is alrdy out at LTA FB
All, why 944 end up in smrt hands? This goes to show money is really the key. Already proven when Sbs transit wins the seletar tender with the lowest bid price and now confirmed again with smrt given new service 944. So this serves as a minor wake up call for those who still thinks money is not the key when dealing with transport matters. Cheers. Thanks.
