Originally posted by AJQZC:Are there (still) DD restrictions for the following services? (Regardless of whether there is demand for DDs)
16, 32, 57, 63, 75, 100, 121, 123, 124, 138, 142, 155, 173, 175, 184, 195, 300, 301, 302, 315, 325, 927, 962, 973
I'm not sure about the other services, but these are the probable and commonly guessed reasons why these services are unable to accommodate DDs to date...
16 - Possible height restrictions along Joo Chiat Rd
32 - Possible restrictions along Margaret Drive (likely due to the tight turns near the Fisherman Church)
57, 175 & 195 - possible restrictions along Depot Rd (probably low lying branches)
63 - Restrictions along Jalan Rumah Tinggi (road looks pretty narrow and steep for DDs to climb)
100 - Possible restrictions along Upp Aljunied Rd (low lying branches again?)
121/124 - Possible restrictions along Telok Blangah Way likely due to low lying branches
123 - Restriction along Bukit Purmei Ave (difficult for DDs to do u-turn using the roundabout?)
173/973 - Possible restrictions along Hume Ave (road too steep for DDs?)
138 & 927 cannot due to low trees along Mandai Rd
I wonder why 194, 167 & 980 still dont have DDs even without restrictions
63 used to have DDs but only 2 axles were allowed & prolly the 3 point turn at Jalan Rumah Tinggi make it hard
For 32, the old SBS 5 which used to have DDs back then serve Margaret Drive so. Some people say is due to Frankel Avenue but I think is more like that the demand isn't high for DD
173 also got Toh Tuck Rise/Lor Kismis that is not DD friendly
There some svc that wasn't mention above but is not DD friendly like 980 due to low lying branches when it makes a left turn from Middle Road to Beach Road
42 - not needed as of now.
63 is only exclusive to your 2-axle DDs, but B5TL's possible? (Install aircon or have a window that can open for ventilation). I think 3-axle DDs is a wrong step, should follow United Kingdom's style.
73 / 105 / 159 - Lorong Chuan bus lane entrance, the height is too low, and is because of the gradiency.
160 / 170 - Southern Integrated Gateway (JB CIQ) and Woodlands CIQ, the height is too low.
Certain routes are not ready for DD, even without height restrictions.

Not quite sure about 57, 175, 195. In fact 195 used to have DDs a few years back iirc, and the Henderson Rd restriction was cleared for 145/176 to use DDs.
As for 100/135/155, is there still a restriction after the Upp Aljunied Rd realignment?
Same query for 16 with the Still Rd South diversion (though unlikely that it will use DDs anyway)

100/135/155 can have DDs actually. Its only a matter of time before they get them like 39 case
75 is due to low demand

No DDs, no DD restriction (no need due to bendys / lack of demand):
No DDs, fleet restriction:

whoops its Mandai Lake rd
If I'm not mistaken 195 used to have the 14.5m B10MA superlong..So i think its about Low branches issues
317 its Berwick Dr and the private residential area..136 used to have DDs at Serangoon Gdns

Few years? I'm pretty sure 195 never did have any DDs or at least since the past decade or so. 195 used to have a full-fleet B10M Mark III and IV buses in the past. I think you've probably confused with another service. For such a high-demand route like 195, it would not have been logical to downgrade 195 to full-fleet SDs if there was any DDs in the route in the first place...

Their demand for night bus routes is not at the maximum capacity. Double decker can only deploy on certain festive occasions - Christmas, New Year, CNY or whenever there is a major event occurring, other than that no need.
All depots can take in double deckers since July 2015 when AMK Depot restriction is lifted.
No one knows about 46, 83, 85, 117 and 256. They do all the testing and is positive for double decker.
46,83,85 & 117 can have DD but not to the extend of majority or full fleet of DD!
46:2 is enough
83:4 DD
85:7 DD
117:8 DD

265 needs DDs, likewise for 315.
859 downgraded like from 40% bendies to full rigids
night buses seriously no need to say, too infrequent and no standing pax.
105 and 73 can use bendies if there are.
858 had bendies.
147 is fully DD.
167, 980 are cadidates for DD despite duplication with TSL and NSL in addtion with each other.
386 might need DDs soon

147 is only upgraded after NEL Rationalisation, losing some popular bus routes in once.
Night buses do not have standing pax and infrequent, nowadays ppl just use Grab app - including the GrabCar, GrabShare and JustGrab. some of them put credit card for Grab.
Who's in charge of the bus scheduling? LTA or SMRT?

857 is semi-express service.
So slow that the so-called express buses lose the distinction.
