Can I ask whether can we classify Fast Forward Services as Express services eventhough they have the same fare calculation?
Coz I was wondering when I saw someone change the Fast Forward Page on sgWiki to the Express Service Page...

SBST website still displays them as Fast Forward services.

ComfortDelGro's Fast Forward Services are special Express Service parallel to the their corresponding parent service in part. All are peak periods Express services.
Tower Transit's Express are just the same as the above.
ComfortDelGro also has the 5xx Express Services, all but 513 are full day service. in addition, 518 is now under Go Ahead.
SMRT do not have any full day express services. 188E, 963E are just express variant of their full day routes. (just some examples) 850E and 951E are simply similar to 5xx but still not full day.
FastForward 147e
Express 97e
Express 502A
Express 513 (PPS)
518 (Express)
188E (PPS)
188R (Express/Weekends)
850E (PPS)
SMRT and GAS do not have designation for their Express Services. 188R and 963R are extensions that links to the USS. they too are express services.
TTS do have deignation but while it says Express, the EDS would indicate Limited Stop.
There are five types: Basic, Supplementary, Basic-plus, Premium & Special. EXP & FF belong to Basic-Plus. (https://goo.gl/D2z957, pg15-17)
How many SD and DD does Seletar package needed based on current SBST/SMRT fleet?
City Direct Services has been given to SMRT and SBST to operate respectively... What's the move for I wonder?

Looks like Svc 653 will use DDs? Svc 657 will start from Jurong West Ave 1 a stronghold of SBST... Hmmm.....
I think the depot control will be as such:
Svc 653 - KJ/BU Bus
Svc 655 - SL Bus (Suspect to be Svc 30 or 51 x-over)
Svc 656 - AM Bus (Any spare buses)
Svc 657 - BU Bus
Wah,Play ping pong with brothers again?

Save money loh. LTA make a mistake of awarding CDS to private contractor. Paying them around $500 per trip. Can't even cover the cost. Each 2 years contract more than $1 million.
buy 2 citaros = $600 000. Hire 2 BCs for 2 years is around $160 000. Further there are so many new buses idling now.
Having public operators run city direct bus services could lower costs of operations, as resources could be interlined with other services.
652 & 654 could be next, followed by 658, 659 & 660 around August. I wonder if other contracts would end early to accelerate the process.
The removal of premium bus services from SBS & SMRT previously could be an instruction from LTA to prepare them to run City Direct services.
Considering they're transferring PPSS and City Direct to the PTOs, I won't be surprised if they scrap the Bus Service Reliability Framework.
I wonder why LTA only give SMRT and SBS the CDS, and not TT and GAS, since they r also public transport operators, or r they only eligible to operate their own package and CDS can only give local companies?

most likely because SBST/SMRT are under negotiated package so can negotiate.... while TT/GA are under competitive bidding package....so cost might be different (they might not have included this CDS during the bidding).... or maybe LTA is paying a lower price to SBST/SMRT for their package (due to the size and other factors)
anyway, it is way cheaper to buy the buses and ask SBST/SMRT to operate...
each trip operate by the private operator cost around S$500... definitely the fare is not enough to cover the cost at all.
The average length of a City Direct route is 22.705 km and each trip has around 35 passengers. The revenue collected is around $76 per trip.
With reference to 666 and 668, which run 214.1 km per day, and was awarded for $2.46 million, the cost by private operator is $22.80 per km. Considering the private operators charge around $22.80 per kilometre, and each trip is around 22.7 kilometre, one trip costs around $517.67.
Indeed, the fare revenue can only recover 15% of the cost. The remaining 85% has to be recovered using subsidy, which is not sustainable. If I am not wrong, the government does not want to subsidize City Direct bus services. That is why they decide to transfer them to the PTOs.
Assuming the PTOs would run the City Direct routes at a small profit margin, the cost should be around $76 per trip, or $3.35 per kilometre; 6.8 times lower than the private operators.
After all, the cost by PTOs only covers the mileage, unlike the cost by private operators which covers other variables such as wages. Naturally, the cost would be lower.
What is that thing call beside the brake pedal on the left hand side of the wright buses? And what does it do?

could always go with underground or above ground walkways though.
Not sure if having 2 bus interchanges was pratical too... ? In economical sense maybe, definitely not for commuters?
