I heard a lot from bus enthusiasts at ABCD. I think they are way too optimistic. TT knows how to run their PR well - using the same J1X tactics from Torrens Transit (friendly female star drivers) to run their shuttle service. I will be very amazed if they can source drivers elsewhere and end up with a very consistent level of customer service.
you back in singapore for good or just on vacation?
36 does jumpbus? Maybe 858 also need to do the same. Alternately some duties can be shared with AMDEP.

Why does 858 or any other service need jumpbus? SBS has been reducing the amount of jumpbus because it causes issues for operations. It works well when the roads were a lot smoother, and you have lesser passengers, but in this day and age, it will only cause unnecessary delays when the incoming bus is late even though the outgoing bus driver is ready to go.
36 and 92 on the other hand requires jumpbus due to passengers remaining onboard.

858 may need jumpbus (at CGA) for the very reason 36 does. In fact, the uniqueness of airport bus routes may require such a practice. But that's another story, of course.

36 requires jumpbus simply because there isn't a suitable terminal anywhere along its route except Changi Airport T2 and there are passengers onboard. 858 doesn't need it because it has a proper terminal at Woodlands and adding jumpbus adds complications to the operations, passengers will be worse off under jumpbus than without it.
In fact due to the issues that jumpbus causes, nowadays it is not uncommon to see an off service bus parking on the other side of the 36 berth, which I take it to be a standby bus in case of adverse enroute conditions.

Actually no.. they still have a shortage of (BC) manpower by about 6%..
Originally posted by CB2883J:That leaves only one more, 8040. After that this batch is done. Remains to be seen whether there will be additional order, but I would say that if SMRT was able to buy A95s, then it does increase the A24's chance of getting a purchase.
Perhaps SMB388S was part of the 40 A24s even though its a demo?
The production batch of the MAN NG363F consisted of 39 units only, SMB8001E - SMB8039Y..
The 40 bendy buses that has been announced back then has also included SMB388S..
SMB8040S?

Doesn't exist at all.. Back then I immediately assumed that the 40 bendy buses excluded SMB388S..

Rego wrong or?
What is the A24 that I saw going off service?
Till now svc 911 doesnt even have a perm A24 despite its WAB status.

I can see that... Reason being that the service seems managable well with the bunching of buses. I work in Woodlands where 911 passes by...
Observation:
Opp RP Bus Stop: Many rather (even myself) would take 169 instead of 911...
Blk 802: Preferred to take either 169/903 rather then looping inside St 81 of 911.
But then when I take 911 sometimes, the rigids are able to handle it well with bunching of another rigid or a bendy.. As such, that's why the WAB status is due to the rigids

Yes and if they add another 10 buses on 911, there will be no need for any bendy. Even 913 no need bendy. Can just make fleet of A22s around 25 buses and will be able to manage load by triple bunching.

25 not enough,Deploy 40 A22s and all the depot management drive during peak hours too..

I believe you observe during peak hours? Yes bunching occurs..EVEN before declaring WAB. 911E & 911 buses will bunch up usually.
If not, yes sometimes there's bunch up between 2 911 buses. But their pattern had been 3 bendy 1 cluster, followed by 2/3 A22s, 1 bendy, 1/2 A22s. Poor allocation of WAB buses.
AM Off Peak will be the time u see bunching more often. The 2 S1 slot will be running on 911 also after doing 911E.
While I hope for A24s upgrade, their recent fleet add of 2 AP(infact 1) slot is much better than changing the Bendy for A24. (But I still hope for the upgrade)
Anyway, those 2 stops you mentioned are passengers heading towards CWP, of cus 169/903 would be better. But still, both have a irregular frequency.
Reason :
- More frequent, but bendy buses will be wasted to deploy during certain timing.
- In the past, after 8/9pm, only 4/5 out of 6 APs will be running, including break time.
- Give drivers a relax job, not rushing for schedules always. Now, BC don't need to chiong.
off topic
freq on bus 291 = 03 min
293 = 03 min
222 = 04-05 min
225G = 03-04 min
225W = 05 min
354 = 08-09 min
358 = 08 min
359 = 06-07 min

Perhaps miscellenous topics?
I did a chat with one of the depot personnal theyre awaiting the result of the concept HC bus,The DDs can do what normal 12m DD would do and also can act as what the bendy buses will do,So in contrast theyre playing the wait and see game.They did try to persuade LTA to buy a few A24 for one-to-one exchange though..Dont know how true but keep finger crossed.
The new DDs wont work for the Airport bound services. Bendies would still be needed.

Hope LTA can buy enough A24s to make 858 majority A24 or full A24 fleet...
