New Service 324 berth.

Departing Shenton Way @
17.45, 18.00, 18.20, 18.45
Current time slots too restrictive giving ppl too few option to head back home and just take MRT.
Deploy 4 rigids on both services. I am sure each of these buses will start getting more pax.
Anyway spotted 851E and 951E both on CTE with full standing bus at 7pm. This shows PM demand has also increased and needs more buses.
1745? Shenton folks still hard at work...
15min interval after 1800 more relevant...
Anyway CLUSTER of buses at Anson Rd, holding back traffic, getting worse...

17.45 quite important because you will have people boarding around 6pm at Stamford/Dhoby Ghaut in huge numbers. Also most assistants leave work at 530pm like clock work.

Right at the end of the interchange.. but okay coz if u take last compartment of train and walk back.. exit is right opposite the berth..
I am expecting many pax to take 324 from interchange (considering predictable frequency) compared to 62 from HG Ave 10 (what they do today).
But... it will take 1-2 months until people change their pattern... sv 62 will lose some upper serangoon load.. but again.. good coz AM/PM peak will have more long distance pax. Loss of pax compensated by new blocks coming up.
sv 87 and sv 10 may be getting BSEP DD upgrade this month from BNDEP/CGBP side. 87 for sure, sv 10 needs to be observed.
Two AP shifts for 324 for Sundays.

Hi mr SBS2656X, if I remember correctly, the berth used to be for sbs 151 and for sbs 151e separately. Now sbs 151 and sbs 151e are combined so that they give up 1 berth to sbs 324. Cheers.

That is actually used to be 151e berth, not 151.
Buses can have odd frequencies at times, and occasionally, they bunch up.This can be due to traffic conditions, sometimes by PIWs boarding the bus or passengers asking for directions. Adding more buses will increase the possibility of bunching if they are to be driving together with cars during the rush hour. Perhaps we can follow Seoul's idea of a central bus lane.

Seoul did a lot more than just central bus Lane. To specify few:
1. Cut long distance winding routes like Sv 51, 61 into two
2. Removed redundant routes
3. Introduced unique new routes
4. Re hauled the bus numbering system to make it more people friendly
5. Reporting on next bus at all stops (not just few)
6. Efforts to reduce bunching
7. More routes connecting neighboring towns reducing reliance on MRTMRT

Seoul took huge risks by making those bold moves towards improving their bus services.
At this point in time, our ministers and ministries do not appear to be favorable to taking up the responsibilities of doing such bold actions. Everything is very systematic, with little improvements at a time. "Don't want to rock the boat you are in yourself" is the best way to put it in words.
I too look forward to a major overhaul and rerouting, but this is something that i highly doubt will happen.
SMRT crazy? 190 One of the most patronised bus service in Singapore can have nearly 3/8 rigid single decker, while some feeders are full bendy...

For a start, imtroduce the central bus lane. But that will mean an additional stair on overhead bridges too...

re item #1: how about amend to skip some bottleneck sections instead? i notice even some relatively short routes still got cockup frequency occasionly. so what is the reason behind? And how about those long loop svcs?
re item #7: I agree with u but unfortunately LTA dont think this way. I think HK also dont practice hub & spoke system is it?

actually service106 should extend to punggol using back the old route it will also help up 147 and MRT. but I think LTA actually want more people to take mrt system. but since 106 is smrt so this will put sbst to maintan the train system more carefully or else people will take 106. and maybe also include 106 SE semi-express skip some bus stops after serangoon NEXt shopping centre the until jalan besar road and contiune to bukit batok. and opposite after little india skip bus stops until serangoon NEXT shopping. It will not ternminated at serangoon interchange but contiune to punggol cover 147 and at yio chu kang follow service 50. people living along the way at serangoon north and sengkang west can go direct to orchard, botanic garden, holland V and clementi and bukit batok.

Hi mr wsy1234, route is far too long to connect to Punggol. It will need to skip many more stops to make such a route viable. Cheers.

I am not in favor of such long routes.. it invariably leads to huge delays, bunching and scheduling problems, creating long waiting times and inconvenience/irritation to commuters.
Just look at sv 61. Such a long route, often bunching, erratic frequency has made ppl choose other options and loading of sv 61 has dropped over the years..
We dont need super long routes like 61 or the one you are proposing. At the same time, we dont need very short routes like 116, 120, 324 either...
The routes in today's day and age that do best is mid-haul routes like sv 50/972... need to introduce more such routes with express sectors..

Yes it will NOT happen... and you can clearly see it with LTA planning.. they want to PLEASE ALL and in the end will still not please the majority. Anytime, you want to do something good and bring about change, there has to be detemination and will to do it.
Will definitely inconvenience small % of people, say 2% people but will benefit 98% ppl... there is nothing like being perfect and pleasing everyone. just doesnt work. And hence, they will not end up doing even something remotely close to what Seoul did
Today WL deployed 4 DDs each on 963 & 966...

I dont like the central bus lane idea.. it means overhead bridges everywhere which is not necessary... that is the last of the things I would take.. dedicated left lane def positive.

I think 3 on 963 and 4 on 966... no!?

You are spot on, transport changes in SG are only baby steps... Bus contracting model is not tt bold till you see the details...
