I still prefer a LE bus and i dont mind the steps along the middle aisle at all. The LE bus is still more practical to me as it has a wider aisle and no need to step up to the seats. More pax can stand towards the rear than fully low floor bus. LE seating has more forward facing seats which more pax prefer.
Heheh...
While our dear SG is still living in the mass-purchase Citaro/WEG fantasy...
KMB has alr started introducing Euro VI hybrid: http://www.kmb.hk/tc/news/press/archives/news201409012070.html

There is an economical case for hybrid buses - Reduced fuel consumption that translates to reduced running costs.
The costs of diesel is not going to stay where it is now for the next 15 years.

This Enviro500 Hybrid has different colour base from other KMB, this time is full white base for the Hybrid advert purpose...

whats the permissible max speed limit for buses in HK? although HK has lots of metro lines, is there still a wide choice to opt to travel 100% by bus instead?

The K280UD is brand new. Not ASU1/2.

A bit hard to say.
The mainteinance cost of the hybrid bus and the high CAPEX might still not make it feasible.
Not sure about reliability of hybrid buses, but the SBST China-made ones were certainly not quite there judging from the down-times they had.
