The one opening at this year end should be the new Bedok Bus Interchange, since the new Boon Lay Bus Interchange opened 1 year after Jurong Point Extension opened and Bedok Mall opened last year.
Dunno leh? Maybe earlier? Or later?
The mall itself isn't even complete... The bus int deck does not look really complete, looks like the foundation is done, but nothin else...

Boon Lay bus interchange was also like this in the beginning of 2009. I remember seeing potted plants, playground equipment, etc. at where the end-on berths are currently; The place was used as a storage space to place things for the new condominium above Jurong Point Extension. Towards June that year, the parts for bus interchange was progressively fitted in place and the bus interchange opened on 27 December 2009. To think about it, it has been 1,476 days since the new bus interchange opened. already 57 days more than the temporary bus interchange (1,419 days), which was used until 7 May 2010.
Similar to Jurong Point Extension, I think there is also a condominium above Bedok Mall. The place is probably used as temporary storage space for condominium facilities right now. Some time around June, I guess the fitting works for the new Bedok Bus Interchange will begin and the new bus interchange will open at the end of this year.
fitting works: install air-con. , install doors, lay the tiles, pave the roads, etc.
190 why still use rigid?
BSEP buses can operate on non-BSEP services now.

You cannot except all bendies, can you? Sometimes, there are slots where the loadings for 190 are lower than usual, thus making a bendy redundant, due to less utilisation of the capacity of the bus... That's why even 300, 302 and other feeder services usually have one or more rigids, alongside the bendies (needed for extra capacity during peak hours)...
cos this crown company do not purchase any high capacity buses. if they need to inject additional high capacity fleet into 190, other services will be affected. So no choices, just to inject some MANS buses to please the bt panjang people at the moment. at least this route should be 95% high capacity buses. If SBST can do that for route 179, I do not see any reason this Temasek link company not doing it.
add a number of mans in 190 then call enhancements, pui the LTA and PTC .approve another round of fare hike. kNN

what for govt talk abt competition and wanna add some more bus operators where there is actually no real competition? add 10 more operators also useless. in fact companies will not enjoy economies of scale to operate when there are more operators.
I have feedback to LTA, but they dont give a damn. Brush me aside with the fanciful plans in the future. As if i dont know, DTL II ready in 2016. Thats is the bloody problems with SMRT, SBST, LTA, PTC - all got some links with another

It is a failure on part of LTA that BSEP WEGs are given to svcs like 119 and 49 that do not need at the moment and services like 190 that are begging for it, don't get any more high capacity upgrades. 190 is just an example - can list at least 15 services from SMRT side that are in high need of high capacity bus upgrades.
When is the last time a 969, 851, 854 got a high capacity upgrade. To add, so many other services desperately need more high capacity buses - 167 during AM peak from Sembawang, 169, 172, 187, 188, 189, 963, 985... the list goes on...
Add to it CCK/Yishun/Woodland feeders that also could have done well with BSEP high capacity upgrades rather than BSEP rigid upgrades.
Originally posted by SBS3688Y:to add on; several BSEP routes are quite a failure and got low ridership; instead of using these resources to improve existing services and add new trunk/cross-island routes with more direct links.
I would agree that some of the routes could have definitely be planned better.
Some here will say "Government money, why bother" but my rationale is that even if it is government money, it could be used on routes that would benefit more people. The route planning hasn't been at its best.
Also, you need to understand that LTA made a commitment on # of buses and new routes it will introduce. That is why they have to introduce some 40 new routes. Whether these 40 routes are effective, I don't think that is being judged.
Another things Thanks to their depot spacing that they can't take many DDs let alone bendies...They play like waiting game just like LTA built Woodlands Bus Park for them.Amdep need to relocate to a bigger depot nearby.Yio Chu Kang beside the first bus stop for 854/857.Or simply built a bus park with facilities around Kallang Avenue beside the river.Reason why you see 176,190,925,811 under part or full Wldep control cause Kranji and Ang Mo Kio simply can't take any more buses...ONP is just a temporary solutions that cost money and times..
