True that. But Im guessing SBST kinda foresee this requirement to come sooner or later. Thats why they stopped the 77xx series at where they are now, then reg the others under 3xxx with interior changes?

i see. thanks for the clarification
vibrating chassis, rattling metal poles etc... i still can tolerate. but what i can't tolerate is bad aircon.
yes, i prefer the kubs more (bitch please) compared to the citaros. come on, on a hot and sunny day, the first thing i get onto the bus is to turn the aircon outlet for a refreshing blast of cool air to cool my sweaty body down. the kubs have good aircon (you have got to give credit for that) while the citaros... i can't even find any aircon outlet and every time i took a citaro, it feels stuffy (even at night) and sometimes it worsens when the passenger load is higher (more ppl, more body heat).
and of course, the standing area for kubs is larger than citaros and the kubs can squeeze more ppl than the citaros. that's why i prefer kubs.
*yea i know some will deem this as heresy but whatever. bitch please*

True that, the aircon on KUBs is definitely much better than the Citaros. The one on Citaros are like blowing towards the top of the window, like anyone would sit that close to the window edge.
But sometimes i wonder is it some kind of manufacturer restriction that they can't cut more holes into the existing panels for more A/C vents? Or they just don't want to touch the CBU interior of the Citaro? Cause i presume they should have received quite a number of complaints about the lack of aircon in Citaros.

Eventually they will do it, but there might be some complications. They'll probably have to wait till the warrenty expires (so they dont void it), and also figure out a way how to go about opening up holes into the panels as Mercedes Benz has used some portions inside the aircon ducts to place some components (e.g the air tanks) to save space beneath.
Citaro Adv:
- Quiet Engine
- Low vibration
- Engage gears smoothly
- Better suspension?
Citaro Disadv:
- Unable to control the A/C outlet
- Flimsy interior cause them to come off over time
- irregular steps located near the rear (esp face to face seat & tight corner for the rear seats )
- Silicon not applied on the sides of the windows (rainwater slipping in after sometime?)
- Uncomfortable seats due to insufficient cushion
- No window ledge for passenger to place their arms..
- Low passenger capacity (for standees)
- Exhaust pipe located at the wrong place ( People at bus stop greeted by the smoke)
- No clear notification on "Bus stopping" (For BC)
- Side EDS located too high

But at least SBS Transit had configured the differences in the 1,100 Scania K230UBs.
You see, all 501 Euro IVs have 2 wheelchair spaces and Cool-Air EDS. But why I like the Euro Vs instead? The remaining 600 Euro Vs have more seats, 1 wheelchair space was replaced with 3 seats. (Nice!) And the Hanover EDS at the front is nicer compared to the Cool-Air EDS.

SBS Transit Mercedes-Benz Citaros is one of the worst buses in the fleet. The bus fans wanted SBS Transit to have Citaros, but to their surprise, the Citaros in SBS Transit is very bad. SMRT Citaros I can still accept it, cause they were better in the case of air-conditioning and the design.
My question is why didn't SBST go for the Soon Chow Volvo B7RLE?

Oh come on.
SMRT ones are no better as well. Some have no air con too and their interiors are getting very dirty. Now SMB136C even has a Dennis Lance rims at the rear.
And those useless on board annoucements "Welcome onboard SMRT buses, Please hold on to the grabpoles while in the bus, blah blah blah..." åµæ»äºº!

I don't seems to see anything wrong with SMRT Citaros.

WHY? SBS Citaro is good what :(
The seats, IMHO, are terrible. The last good buses in the SBST fleet are probably the VO3x and B10M IV.
Seriously though, the funny part about the K230UB is that it's being bought en masse by rapidKL and rapidPenang. With a very close bodywork.
Anyhow, I still think we should have gone mass B7RLEs.
I think the best bus is that runing on CNG volvo SD, I took it from jurong east to Toa Payoh the bus very smooth and even it much older than KUB new bus.
Another china bus, sbs 8001 is that hybrid bus also good no jerking no rocking.
Citaro is better bus, if the air-con system like KUBs cold even on the hot days. But I think the german which made the bus never think of singapore hot days. Maybe sbst should re work the air-con before put them to service.
the last time sbst look very bad was those very old non-air DD bus from leyland which is no more on the road, very time the bus start moving it rock like mad.

Yes yes, the B10BLE CNGs are probably the smoothest SD around. They just seem to float around effortlessly with their soft suspension. Sadly, for some of the cngs the maintaience is lacking, as some of the gearboxes does not drop itself into Neutral before the bus stops, so the engine sounds like its going to stall everytime it stops.
Originally posted by SMB228X:SBS K230UBs are falling apart! They always jerk and get overtaken on the highway by MAN n Citaro! Why does everyone like to get such horrible cheapskate buses??
SBS should seriously buy some Dennis Enviro200 Dart and the new Citaro!
Did u get the E200 dart idea from me?
coz i think E200 is better for SMRT. I stated it earlier.
Anyway, these buses will surely be very good!!!!!!!

And at least SMRT are constantly buying new buses to sort outsvc like 965 and stuff!
Look at SBS? Buy new buses to cb replace NEW buses, and push the OLD ones to 159, 85...
But I hv to say frankly, the Yutong is pretty good, the rest are TRASH.

lol... absolutely true
UNLESS they make the parts b4 the exit area PRACTICALLY seatless (except priority seats) while the bus still low floor...
aiyo.. Kids..
Your still dun get it why LE buses can fill up more ppl at the rear.. It's ironically because of the steps...
The steps now makes the tyre 'bump' on level, thereby making looks as if it's more spacious to take in more standee at the rear.
Visualise if the MAN A22 is LE, would the rear no standee problem occur if the level is raised to the same as the tyre?
seriously i wonder how will TS feels if he was to take those public buses in places like india, china or even malaysia
