That is the old side destos used by Tibs. It was used on 176 way back in the late 90s when the old NAC Hino HT238K (TIB3xx series) were still doing 176 then. Rather a nostalgia.

How I'd wish TIB300S-361R could stay, I haven't seen them yet - Not sure if it is due to the intake of the bendies that make them go.

They were de-registered due to lifespan expiry.

In the past, the lifespan for every public buses are only limited to 12 years. TIB1E to TIB310U were cleared off after reaching the lifespan of 12 years between 1995 to 1997. That was also the time when Tibs rolled in several aircon buses (0405s/Scanias/DAFs) and upgraded all the bus services to PAC status.
TIB311K onwards were initially planned to go off in 1998, however that was when LTA allowed extension for another 3 years, hence their lifespan was extended till 2001. It was by the end of Dec 2001 when the last such old Japanese NAC buses were totally cleared off (last Hino HT238K NAC was seen on service 175 - LCK to Upp Bt Timah).
There we also a few Hino HT238Ks that were also transferred to CSS in late 1997. All the NAC ones were phased out together with Tibs ones in 2001, whereas the AC ones (former TIB38x series) stayed till 2004.

Some services like 169 and 853 also had such side destos too. That was when the newly rolled in UMW Lances last time did not have any EDS installed. They also used the plastic blue destos with destinations on each side for the front display.
