I think lots of stage bus (bas berhenti henti) are closing down in domino effect.
Articles found on M'sian Chinese press
1) http://www.chinapress.com.my/node/278253

Many bus co have ceased operating stage buses.

public transport in cities heavily dependent on private transport requires heavy subsidies to attract people to take them, to compensate for the inconvenience and extra travelling duration.

Lien Hock Bus shutdown its 506 route from Butterworth to Kulim. I missed that bus. lol.
almost everyone drives a car or motorcycle in MY, hence bus demand is decreasing.....
Shocking thing is, even bus operator at Selangor also has problems surviving.
The problem has been in existence for more than a decade already. Just look at Transitlink JB, Transitlink PW, GML Line, Milan Travel and many more. The problem made headlines ever since Cityliner Negeri Sembilan and Cityliner SKMK (Kelantan) decided to cease operations. Not to mention, these operators are government-linked.
A lot of malaysian own cars (including selangor), not shocking leh....

What about Metrobus and Triton in KL? How are they coping?

Triton has long gone into the history books. Handal Indah took over its assets and routes. The only remaining 'active fleet' are those in JB. Handal Indah operates these routes using Triton-registered buses due to permit issues.
Metrobus, on the other hand, is doing fine, so far. Metrobus operates a very unique system where buses were leased to individuals for them to operate the services. Metrobus merely owned the buses and permits, whereas the operational aspects such as scheduling, manpower and maintenance are left to the lessees. They are not bleeding, but they are not doing too well either.
Bus operater of malaysia largely depends on SG bis.
All go genting

So the Triton Lances in KL have been repainted into CW livery? Anyway, Metrobus appears to be running its operations using what appears to be a franchise system.
What about bus routes in Perak? Anyone has any ideas if they are fine?
